"Luke"
Hi - my name is Luke! I am a cattle dog mix. I was saved from a high kill shelter in Alabama and am now in the care of a nice foster mom. I am soft and fluffy and LOVE attention - I will even sit nicely in your lap if you give me a back scratch or a belly rub. I weigh less than 40lbs so I'm not too heavy for that. I'm not a big barker and I'm too nice to chew or tear up things that aren't mine.

I would love to have a large fenced yard so I could roll in the grass or lay in the sun, but I prefer a nice warm bed inside at night. I love to play with other dogs of all sizes but I like the be the one in charge.

I was ready to be neutered when the vet said I have heartworms. My foster mom is going to have me treated and I'll be neutered prior to adoption. I should be ready for my new home by mid-December - just in time for Christmas!! My adoption fee is $100 and a a home visit will be required.

Please consider making me your new friend!

Love, Luke

UPDATE
Luke tested negative for HW on 11/28 and will proceed with neuter surgery 12/7. He will be transported to new foster care in TN.

"Sophie"
Sophie is a sweet ole gal of about 8 or 9 years old. She is a Collie Mix and is in need of a good home. Sophie went through a awful life before being rescued. She suffered with a chronic ear infection for years. She was in constant pain to the point that the only thing that could help her was surgery. After Sophie's surgery she is well, no more pain, or ear infection. Sadly the surgery has left her deaf, but it seems that someone forgot to tell Sophie because she is just the same ole Sophie. She loves to go for car rides and walks. She just wants a place and a person to call her own. She would be great for a senior who wants a mellow companion. If you are interested in meeting Sophie please contact: ResQPet at resqpet@aol.com or call 818 884-6253. Sophie is located in Beverly Hills, CA.

"Heidi"
Heidi is a gorgeous pure bred 6 year old spayed Black Female German Shepherd. She is microchipped, up to date with shots & rabies and papered. She has grown up with one owner and two children (ages 4 and 6 now). She gets along good with other dogs, was okay with cats at one time (owner has not had cats for a few years). She is housetrained with supervision (she has not been inside much lately). She cannot go to a home with horses - that is why she is in need of a new home. She has chased and nipped at a pregnant mare causing her some stress. She has been near sheep with no problems. She had obedience classes as a youngster and knows sit, shake, down, stay. She is crate trained. Loves to play ball and will fetch anything. Potential adopter must have knowledge of German Shepherds. Piute Paws Dog Rescue 435-577-2092 - Adoption fee $50. "Lee"

I am desperately trying to find help for a 12 year old border collie mix. She had difficulties adjusting to being dumped at her age since her family abandoned her after 12 years due to a divorce.

Lee is current on all shots, has been spayed, and is healthy and spirited. We have vet records going way back from the original owners for anyone interested. She is being boarded at a vet's office and we can not bail her out since we are over the limit for the number of pets we are supposed to have already. If you can help, please e-mail me at poita21@hotmail.com

"Teddy"
I was born in May of 1996, so I am almost seven years old. I am a spayed female, mix breed; my mother is a full breed Samoyed and the best guess is my father was a mix with some Akita, German Shepherd and maybe some Labrador. As you can see from my picture I am a fluffy, long haired canine with quite distinctive markings. I was adopted by my owners, Debby and Eliot, when I was eight weeks old. I weigh about 60 pounds, but I still think I can be a lap dog.

I live with a really fun feline. We get along really well and I like kids; they have more energy than most adults. My owners don't have children of their own, but they have lots of friends that do. I love when my owners' friends and their kids come to visit. I also really like when friends bring their dogs to visit. I like playing with most other dogs. I have never been very toy motivated, but I am motivated by affection and praise and FOOD. I am also very smart. Lastly, I'm a people kind of dog; I just love to be with my owners. I went through three levels of puppy kindergarten training. I sit, stay and won't go out of the house or car until I am released. I sometimes don't come as quickly as I should when I am off a leash - especially if I see squirrels to chase.

In 1999 I was diagnosed with Severe Separation Anxiety. See, both my owners have to work and I get lonely and afraid when I get left alone. My dad owner travels a lot and my mom owner has to work long hours and I am often left alone for 10+ hours a day. They have made my life really good, but I miss them. My owners have tried a large variety of solutions to help deal with my Separation Anxiety.

Debby takes me for a two mile walk every morning. I have an invisible fence in a very large yard and I get to be outside during the day when they are at work. I really like being outside. My vet says that's because of my breeding - cause my mom was a Samoyed, I was meant to be a "working dog." Plus I really like the cold weather - not so much when it's hot. My owners have done special training with me from T-Touch to special "protocol training." They have worked with the vet and I take an anti-depressant (Clomipramine) twice a day and my "protocol training" is done when I get my pills; that process is about 15 minutes twice a day. For the most part this has all worked. But, every now-and-then I have these "episodes"- that's what my owners call them. When I get sad and scared, I damage the doors and windows trying to get into the house from outside. Or, if I am in the house, I damage doors and windows trying to get outside. I am just looking for my owners and trying to feel safe.

Noise phobia is often associated with Separation Anxiety. I don't seem to have much of that anxiety though. I do get a little anxious during bad thunderstorms and a continuous beeping noise (like an alarm signal) has irritated me in the past. As long as I have people around I am able to remain calm though.

As much as my owners love me, they think it may be best for me to go to a home where I can be with people all the time. They think that I will be much happier and won't have these anxiety episodes cause I will get to be with someone all the time. That's why I'm writing this to tell you all about me. I need to be in a home where I can be with people all the time. Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that I LOVE car rides; I am really happy in the car even if not on a ride! See as long as I can be with you, I won't be sad and scared.

So won't you consider meeting me? My owners just want to be sure that I can be happier and are worried that my anxiety may get worse if I can't be in a home where I get to be with people all the time. If you are someone who is looking for a loving companion, and you can let me be with you all the time, we could have a really great relationship. Won't you consider letting me come to live with you? If it doesn't work out my current owners are willing to take me back too.

You can contact my owners, Debby and Eliot Blatt at home at 413-698-2896 or e-mail deblatt@taconic.net

You can also call Debby at work (8-5 EST) at 413-629-1351 or e-mail her at dblatt@cainhibbard.com.

They will share every bit of information they have about me with you; the good, the bad and the episodes.

"Corky"
"Corky" is approximately 4 months old. He is up-to-date on shots and has been neutered. Corky was pulled from a kill facility...who could resist that face. He will need a patient owner, someone who is able to do obedience work with him....some with definite loads of energy.

Corky is a very sweet little guy he just has tons of energy. A little hard headed which I think may be some of the hound in him (don't get me wrong i love em :) At best guess Corky may have some beagle in him. If others have an opinion please feel free to contact me as we are just guessing. He currently weighs approximately 15 lb. If interested please contact alowry@gva.net for an adoption application.

Adoption contract and fee will apply.
