"Odin and Apollo"
Odin and Apollo are AKC registered Pekingese, and 5-year-old litter mates. Sire is "Scamp's Rascal" and dame is "Am I Blue." These are two very happy, healthy boys. Their owners reluctantly surrendered them when financial troubles caused them to lose their home.
Odin and Apollo are both up to date on all their shots, are heartworm negative and on preventive, are neutered, and recently had their teeth cleaned. You can read more on each, below. I will give priority to any adopter who is willing to take both boys, as they are very devoted to each other and I want very much to keep them together.
Odin (in case you were wondering) is named for the supreme god of Norse mythology. His coat is primarily brown, black, and tan. He weighs just over 18 pounds. Odin is a sweet-tempered, fun loving guy. He loves to give kisses and receive belly rubs. He gets along well with cats and other dogs. He walks well on a leash, and enjoys being cuddled and groomed.
Apollo is named for the Roman god of poetry and music. He weighs approximately 18 pounds, and his coat is butterscotch and white. He is a bit shy at first, but warms up quickly and absolutely loves people. He enjoys nothing better than chew toys and a good game of fetch. Like his brother Odin, Apollo has a very sweet temperament, and will make a lovely companion.

"Precious"
|
Precious is a very happy, outgoing 3 year old fawn brindle smooth coat
Chihuahua who, at 2 years of age, along with her 1 year old daughter, was
turned into the local shelter as her owners were moving. Precious and her
daughter, Peaches were adopted out to a family with a 3 year old and a baby.
A year later, Peaches bit the 4 year old son in the face and both were taken
back to the shelter, who refused to take them, due to the daughter biting.
The shelter had the family contact Adopt-Aluv Rescue who took both girls in.
Precious is about 7 pounds and guards her food bowl from her daughter. She
is up to date on all her shots and is spayed. She is paper trained, crate
trained, loves other dogs (as long as they leave her food bowl alone) and
loves people. Her daughter has been adopted.
If Precious is the little girl you have been dreaming about, please contact
her foster Mom, Audrey -- Audrianne@Voyager.net for an Application to Adopt.
Home Visit, Adoption Donation (her expenses) Adoption Contract, References
Required. Precious would be picked up at my home in Mentor, Ohio -- I do
not ship or transport.

"Chief"
|
Chief is a smooth coat male Chihuahua, white and cream with a light fawn cast,
5 pounds, who can be a little bully at times. He has trust issues until he
knows you, he can be food aggressive and my oh my, how he likes to lift his
leg to mark his territory -- so wearing a belly band around the house could
be a permanent item of clothing for this little guy. He's young, just 4
years old, (DOB--09-26-02) so he has many years of love to give to someone
very special.
Chief is up to date on all his shots, booster, parvo, rabies, is heart worm
negative and on monthly preventative pills (Interceptor) and has been
neutered. I am hoping that with his recent neuter, this might help his
"marking" problems, but it's too soon to tell. Neutering usually helps with
the marking problems. At the moment, he is with Cocoa and Blossom and the
three are getting along fine, no problems. I do believe he would like to be
adopted into an ADULT family that has other Chihuahuas.
If you have the time and the patience to help Chief re-adjust into a loving
home, please contact his foster Mom, Audrey -- Audrianne@Voyager.net -- for
an Application to Adopt. Home-visit, Adoption Donation, Adoption Contract,
References Required. Chief would need to be picked up in Mentor, OH (east
of Cleveland)-- I do not ship or transport!!!

"Ebbie"
Ebbie was pulled from a shelter who recently placed her with a family with
young children. Unfortunately, like so many of the Toy breeds, Ebbie does
not like children and was returned to the shelter after snapping at a child.
Since the shelter felt they could not place her, she was offered to rescue.
Ebbie is completely vetted, all shots, booster, parvo, rabies, she is
heartworm negative, on preventative, was microchipped and has been spayed.
Ebbie is 2 years old, black with white markings on her face, chest and feet
and weighs 15 pounds. Ebbie has a typical Peke attitude, which is STUBBORN,
if she does not want to do something -- she won't do it!!! Then her
aggressive side shows up. We believe she is housebroken. She will not be
placed with children -- adult home only -- and we prefer one who has
knowledge of the breed and can handle an "alpha" girl. With training, her
attitude can be adjusted.
Ebbie is in a foster home in Bowling Green, OH (south of Toledo) with Liz
who works nights. If you are interested in adopting Ebbie, contact
Audrey -- Audrianne@Voyager.net for an Application to Adopt -- Home-Visit --
Adoption Donation -- Adoption Contract -- References Required. Ebbie would
be picked up from Liz, the foster Mom, we do not ship or transport.

"Little Lady"
Little Lady was dumped off in a petshop. When they were closing up on
Sunday evening, they heard this little squeel coming from the fiberglass
cage department. They peeked into all the cages until they found this
little one. She was attached to a chain large enough to hold a bull with
a note that said -- Lady -- 1 year old. I am very thankful the prior owner
left her in the petshop instead of leaving her loose or turning her into a
pound. Thank You - Thank You.
Lady is a red sable with a black mask, very thin at 7 pounds. Her legs are
rather thin boned and somewhat straight and she carries her tail up like a
flag instead of over her back -- this could be because she does not feel
well. I have her on frozen Bil-Jac to fatten her up. She seems very loose
in the shoulders, possibly the prior owners picked her up by her front legs
instead of putting a hand under her chest and under her hind quarters as a
small dog should be picked up.
Arrangements are being made to fully check this little girl out by my
Veterinarian. She will have all her shots up to date, booster, parvo and
rabies, get a heart-worm check and treated if necessary, and will be
spayed - if not already done. This will probably be in another month or so
as she is so very, very thin -- she only weighs 7 pounds and I believe she
should weight at least 9-10. Little Lady will NOT be adopted out until all
the above things are done.
Application to Adopt is necessary, send e-mail with full name and address so
one can be mailed to you as I do not have this up on my website as yet.
Adoption Contract and Adoption fee (her Vet bill) required. Contact Lady's
foster Mom, Audrey in Mentor, at Audrianne@Voyager.net
April 27th Update:
Little Lady is not doing very well -- she goes into the hospital on Monday for more tests -- they had her on antibotics for one week with no results -- she will eat frozen Bil-Jac with a spoonful of canned meat over it -- but she throws it right back up -- she is now on C/D until Monday -- we are trying to see if she can keep anything down -- will keep you all informed on her progress. Keep your fingers crossed for her and please say a prayer.
April 29th Update:
Well now I know why she was left in the Petshop. Apparently the owners didn't want to pay the Vets for her care, and didn't want to pay to put her down. So now I have her. We don't have any idea what her problem is. It could be several things. I will know more Tuesday afternoon.
She is now in Lake Animal Hospital and on IV's. No worm eggs in her stool, so we can cross off hook or whip infection. I fed her canned I/D on Sat & Sunday, but she still threw up. She's getting very little food down that will stay down.
Today (Monday) they are doing blood work and tests. I was on the phone today calling Veterinarians in the Cleveland area to see if I could find the owner. No luck, but I have many more numbers to try tomorrow. I don't care who the owner is. I would like to find her health record. After all, she is only one year old, and I don't think this is a new
problem. Please say a prayer for Lil Lady -- let's pray she can be made well.
May 1st Update:
Well, I don't have much to tell. Lady is still in Lake Animal Hospital. She is eating I/D and keeping it down.
I don't have my notes in front of me, but they are doing a test tomorrow to check for a liver shunt. I believe it was a bile acid test. They think I can bring her home tomorrow evening.
If she has a liver shunt surgery will be expensive and they don't even know if surgery can work until they open her up. She will have to go to a hospital in the Akron, Ohio area for that operation. We are taking one day at a time. Please say a prayer for her. She is such a sweet little thing.
May 10th Update:
Little Lady is not doing very well, I may have to put her down -- still checking with another Specialty Doctor. Her Vet bill is nearing $400.00 and I may still have to do the liver shunt surgery for her in addition to shots and spay if the liver shunt surgery works. If the liver shunt surgery is done I may ask for donations payable to the hospital.
May 31st Update:
Little Lady is on her way to Harrison Animal Hospital for observation, etc. She is skin and bone -- and that's not speaking mildly. She only picks at 1/3 can of I/D daily. Let's hope she has strength enough for the exploratory surgery.
June 1st Update:
Things are not looking very good for our dear Little Lady. At the moment she is in Harrison Animal Hospital with Dr. Lori Kirst. Dr. Kirst has her on two medications that will help her keep her food down and will ease the discomfort of her illness. She switched her food to K/D. Little Lady is eating much better, up wagging her tail (which she did even lying in bed) and still needs built up for the surgery. Lady will next see Dr. Butler who will see if it is possible to do a liver-shunt surgery on her. Let's all pray for this sweet little girl -- she does not deserve all this misery.
June 13th Update:
Lady is still in Cincinnati, Ohio with Laura who is trying to build her up for more testing and possible surgery. Dr. Butler wants to do more tests on her to find out where the liver shunt is located and if surgery can be done at all. These tests will cost $300.00 and will determine the cost of the surgery -- minimum would be $1000.00. Lady has days when she eats very well for Laura, and other days she does not do well at all. She loves being outdoors and walking in the grass - and she even fell into Laura's pond - with Laura right after her. If nothing can be done, at least, she is really enjoying life in southern Ohio.
July 11th Update:
With a heavy heart, I must report to all those who have been in contact with me, that dear Little Lady died of heart failure during her testing with Dr. Rogers, Vererinary Internal Medicine in Milford. Ohio.
It became apparent during the testing that Little Lady had much more wrong with her than just the liver shunt, which by the way, turned out to be NOT surgically repairable. In addition, she had a huge bladder stone, which was repairable, but she would need to eat special food. The reason for her heart failure was that she was also a Hydrocephalus (water brain) and she had a huge molera (soft-spot opening) in her skull. Her veins were not connected correctly to her brain or her liver. THIS IS GENETIC. Now you know why I keep telling people not to purchase from back-yard breeders or from petshops who usually get their dogs from puppymillers. Good breeders do not breed dogs with genetic problems. Dr. Rogers said that if the liver shunt surgery could have been done, with her brain the way it was -- she would start having seizures, each one more severe. He did not believe she would have lived longer than another year.
Bless you dear Little Lady -- Laura & I will see you again one day, when you meet us at the bridge
A Pets Prayer
If it should be, that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then, you must do what must be done
For this, the last battle, can't be won.
Don't let your grief stay your hand,
For this day more than the rest,
Your love and friendship stand the test.
We've had so many years,
What is to come can hold no fear.
You'd not want me to suffer, so
When the time comes, please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me to the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you'll see it is a kindness you do for me
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.
Don't grieve it should be you who this thing decides to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years,
Don't let your heart hold tears.
SMILE, FOR WE WALKED TOGETHER FOR AWHILE
