"Scooby-Doo & Tyde"
Scooby-Doo is a pure-bred male Pekingese -- fawn in color with a black muzzle, about 15 pounds in weight. When he was sent to our rescue last year, I was told by the owner that he was 3 years of age -- however, I would put him 5-7 years of age. Veterinarian in our area only saw him for two years. He was vetted elsewhere before that.
Tyde is a Peke-Doxie mix female -- brown with black on her muzzle, with a short coat. About 14 pounds in weight. Owner said she was 3 years of age -- and area Veterinarian records agree with age.
Both have all shots, heart-worm negative and both are altered. They were housebroken when sent to rescue. The owner had terminal cancer and wanted them placed in a loving home before anything happened to her. She wanted both placed together, and they were placed together in a home -- however the owner worked long hours, and on many days had to travel, not coming home for several days -- the children neglected to care for the dogs - so they were returned to rescue. The foster Mom, prefers to place them together, but will consider separating them.

"Brandy"
|
Brandy is an owner turn-in, released to Adopt-Aluv Rescue as the husband's German Shepherd suddenly took a dislike to Brandy and wanted to kill her. Last March, he attacked Brandy and shook her until her right eye fell out. Yhe Veterinarian was able to save the eye, but not the sight in it, thus she is blind in that eye. Approaching her from her blind side does startle her at times, so it is necessary to let her know you are there.
Brandy is 3 years old, weighs 13-1/2 pounds, is a fawn and white parti-color. Brandy was purchased from Amish breeders (puppymillers) in Sugarbush, Ohio who told the buyers she was a Peke-A-Poo because of her colors. The breeder said Pekes don't come in this color -- so she must be a cross-breed. Little do they know, that Pekes come in all colors -- even parti-color.
Brandy has a wonderful personality, she seems to love everyone, is good with older children, likes attention (you will know when she needs you because of her high pitched shrill bark), and is completely housebroken.
Brandy is completely vetted, all shots, booster, parvo, rabies, is heartworm negative and on Interceptor, and is spayed. All she needs now is a loving "forever" home. Are YOU that special person with the extra patience for a sweet, young, healthy, blind in one eye girl??? I am planning on moving Brandy to a foster home in the Youngstown, Ohio area.

"Kristy"

|
Kristy was purchased from a breeder to keep her from being sold to a puppymill. She was purchased by that breeder as a pure-bred Shih-Tzu, but looking at her, I do believe she is a Shih-Poo (Shih-Tzu and Poodle mix). Ruby was purchased at the same time, also as a Shih-Tzu, but here again, she may have Poodle in her. Kristy & Ruby are great friends, they love to
play together, and it would be super to place them in the same "forever" home.
Kristy is an adorable and very loving girl. Her tail wags all the time. It is doubtful that either are housebroken, but both are young enough to train -- if YOU have the patience. Both are so sweet natured and loving, it would be well worth the effort.
Kirsty is black & white, has a little nose and weights 14 pounds. She is about 2-1/2 years old. On 11-22-02 she was fully vetted, all shots, booster, parvo, rabies, she was tested heartworm negative and is on preventative, her teeth were cleaned, and she was spayed. Her face was trimmed, and then she was bathed as we found fleas on her. Advantage applied, she will be completely groomed next week.

"Charlie"
|
Charlie is a little boy with a mind of his own. He was turned over
to an Ohio shelter, at 6 months, as he growled at their children. Charlie was
purchased as a puppy, but four children, all under six year of age, was more than
he could handle. He wasn't one of their toys and didn't like to be picked up and
dropped. He started to growl to keep the children away, so-- he was taken to the
shelter. Charlie could have been hurt by little children, we will not put him
thru that ordeal again, and perfer to place him in a home where there are NO small
children.
Charlie does well around other dogs, cats and ferrets, he is very, very playful,
and since being pulled from the shelter, has become very attached to me, he is
friendly to all, but he has snapped at my children, not seriously, a couple of
times. He is not a barker, is a good eater, loves to cuddle in your bed -- and
he enjoys his bath too!! Right now he is sitting looking out of the kitchen window
at the birds playing in the yard!! He is a riot!! He is a total sweetheart when
he knows you, and would make a wonderful addition to any adult family. He probably
would like another Pekingese to play with.
Charlie is about 8 months of age, fawn with a black mask -- 14 pounds, up
to date on all shots, booster, parvo, rabies, is heart-worm negative and on Interceptor
and has been neutered. Charlie is also housebroken.

"Jake"
|
Our Intake Coordinator, Jim, got a call from a fellow named Jay who had found a GR abandoned in Vacherie, along the side of a road. Jay drove by him five miles and then turned around and went back. He called the boy and the dog came to him. Jay took him to work with him and fed him Burger King until he got home, and cleaned him up and said he was "a great dog." Jay and Jake quickly bonded, and Jay would have kept this really sweet boy, except that his own dogs were hostile toward him (Great Pyrenees are typically intolerant of strange dogs, so it was NOT Jake's fault!)
Jim picked up Jake for Old Gold on June 9, reporting that Jake is a beautiful, very friendly boy who weighs 75 lbs. Jake is 2-3 years old. Jake was HW-positive, so he had to be treated for heartworms and neutered before he was ready for adoption. He does not like being on a leash, but he is lovable and responsive. Jake LOVES to play; when he isn't looking for a ball, he's looking for dinner! I love the premature grey on his face, and the enthusiastic greeting he always gives me--and WITHOUT jumping up. Jake would be the perfect dog for a family with active kids! He'd also be particularly good for somone who seeks a jogging companion.
