"Charlie and Rusty"
|
Charlie and Rusty are "half" brothers who have spent their entire lives
together. Sadly, their guardian died a few months ago and family members
dumped them off at the local shelter.
Charlie is 13 and Rusty is 11 but you
would never guess their ages to see them run and play together. Both boys
are neutered, housetrained, up to date on shots and heartworm negative.
Charlie and Rusty are very sweet and VERY affectionate towards people, but
not other dogs, especially larger males. They would prefer to be the only
dogs in the house. Rusty loves to snuggle Oh, yes, Charlie has a very cute
"snaggle" tooth that can get in the way of his many kisses. Can you give these two wonderful boys the loving home they deserve?
Charlie and Rusty are with HART (Homeless Animals Rescue Team). You can contact the HART
office at 703-691-4278 or E-mail: hart90@erols.com or the foster home at 703-620-1020, E-mail: michelle.mccall@verizon.net

"Pepper"
|
Pepper had to say goodbye to his guardian after 9 years of happiness. His
guardian moved into a retirement facility far away and had to leave Pepper
behind. Sadly, and all too common, the family did not want to keep Pepper
and turned him over to a rescue group.
Pepper was not in the best shape
when he came into rescue. He was very over weight and had chronic ear and
eye problems. Pepper also has Hyperthyroidism. Our boy has come a long way
since then. Pepper has lost 16 -- yes 16, pounds! -- has his eye and ear
problems under control and is taking his thyroid medication regularly.
Pepper is quite the character. He LOVES to have his belly rubbed and loves
his food, maybe just a little too much. He loves to just sit by you and
soak in all the attention he can get. Pepper likes to do his impression of
swimming on dry land sometimes...you'll just have to see it for yourself!
Pepper is good with other dogs and cats. He is housebroken, up to date on
shots, neutered and heartworm negative. Do you have room in your heart and
in your home for this boy?
Pepper is with HART (Homeless Animals Rescue Team). You can contact the HART
office at 703-691-4278 or E-mail: hart90@erols.com or the foster home at 703-620-1020, E-mail: michelle.mccall@verizon.net

"Dulcie"
|
"Dulcie" is a 4 year old, spayed female, purebred Smooth Fox Terrier. Tan and white. Very gentle and laid-back dog. Great companion with the 8 and 12 year old children in the family. Calm and polite with dogs she meets in the neighborhood. Not excited by the family's guinea pigs. Rides well inside the car. Loves to sleep in bed under the covers and adores people of any age including strangers.
Adopted from a shelter when she was age 2 years after the owner's other dog, a Boxer,
attacked Dulcie. New family never gave due diligence to establishing a consistant routine nor monitored Dulcie when she was new to their home. Consequently, Dulcie is not reliably housebroken. With newly installed carpets, they have decided to get rid of Dulcie even though their 8 year old was deeply attached to her. They even have a new dog already picked out.
Dulcie is simply a wonderfully mannered dog who will be easy to train in a new home provided they are sensible about monitoring her activity until a successful routine and firm habits are established. Contact Dave Funk or Dena Lebo-Funk at 610-8454-3813 or dena.lebo@primedica.com.

"Pepe"
|
"Pepe" is 1-2 year old neutered male Smooth Fox Terrier mix. Black and white, 22 pounds. Pepe was brought to the US as a puppy from Columbia, South America. Though the family never expended any effort at all to train Pepe or to exercise him, when he wouldn't stay in their unfenced yard, they signed him over to rescue.
As most young terriers are, Pepe is very energetic and easily excited by people and other dogs. Pepe is extremley intelligent and has quickly learned basic manners and politeness in his foster home. Will sit and wait before going through the gates, sits for his meals, sits for his leash being put on or off, etc. Pepe simply loves to jog alongside our bike outfitted with a device to allow him to jog safely. He goes for two rides a day of 4-6 miles total. He also loves balls of any size.
Pepe is housebroken, on HeartGuard, fully vaccinated and is clean and quiet inside his ex-pen/crate at night. Due to his energy, excitability and lack of training as a puppy, Pepe needs a calm but gently firm owner. He is happy to accept guidance and instruction provided it is given calmly and with authority. Would be an excellent flyball or Frisbee dog. Superior athletic and jumping abilities. Contact Dave Funk or Dena Lebo-Funk at 610-8454-3813 or dena.lebo@primedica.com.

"Joni Mitchell"

|
Joni came from St Francis HUS in Georgetown. She was turned in by her former owners because they cannot afford her medical care. Joni, then known as “Purdy”, was hit by a car and had her left femur pinned on 2/28. Her owners never brought her back for a recheck, and stuck the veterinarian with a bad check he is still trying to collect. She was turned in to St Francis on 3/31, her leg still broken, and the pin causing problems. When Joni was spayed, she was having a false pregnancy, and had advanced pyometra. Joni will go to Surgical Referral for surgery this week ( 4/23 ) to have her leg repaired by Dr Bud Keller.
Joni is a sweet Dobergirl that doesn’t know a stranger. She may be around 3-4 years old. She is quite remarkable in the way she gets around with her broken leg, never complaining about pain, and usually running out into the yard! She loves to give kisses and wags her tail a lot!!! Joni is good with other dogs, she is friendly with the hospital cat, but ignores him mostly…
Joni needs a loving home with a dog friendly couch and a securely fenced yard, where she will be loved and spoiled. Any contributions for her surgery will be greatly appreciated, too.

"Indie"
|
Indiana Jones Sausage. Approx. 4 years old, short-haired tweenie.
Indie would do best in a home without children. Although he has mellowed into a fine young adult, he does have a past m.o. of going after the calves and ankles of
strangers as they leave the house.

"Bingo"
|
This little man was rescued by our music teacher from a highway. The vets say he was probably a Japanese breeder dog, about 10 years old. He is currently undergoing heartworm treatment, but really wants to run and play. Has some arthritis in his back legs, but doesn't seem to keep him back. She has named him Bingo and is hoping to find a forever home for him here in Okinawa or in the US/Canada.
Bingo is a miniature long-haired dachsund...full-blooded. He hasn't been neutered yet because of the heartworm treatment. Ditto on dental. Linda in Okinawa
May 21st Update:
Someone in NH with Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue says she's actively looking for a home for Bingo. It looks like I may just take him to NH with me when I go and she'll have a home or foster home lined up. If anyone emails me about bingo, I'll put them in touch with her. Linda in Okinawa
June 9th Update:
Cilla and the Longdogs of NH are going to take over fostering and finding a home for Bingo when I land in Manchster, NH on June 21st. Her email addy: Agilelatte@aol.com Linda in Okinawa
June 28th Update:
Bingo is now at Cilla's house in NH. He has a mid-July vet date for heartworm check-up, pre-op blood work and then neuter and dental. Contact Cilla if interested. Linda in NH
July 1st Update:
This little spunky 6.5 lb Okinawan senior rescue has a July 5 neuter/dental date. He is enjoying his NH experience and will soon be ready to find his forever home.
