"Rudy and Val"
Rudy and Val are Boxer mixes. Mom was 100% Boxer and they were born in rescue on 2/11/03. We are unsure of who or what breed Dad was, it must have been a one night stand. They both have lots of love to give and want to find their forever home so they can leave rescue and start a new life. Could you give them a forever home filled with love?
Rudy is 100% energy and has a LIFE IS FUN attitude. He loves everybody and wants to play, play, play and such a Boxer wiggle butt he has. His tail is docked and his ears are natural. Rudy would love to find an active home to be part of where he will have someone to play with and who will spend lots of time with him. He does know how to 'sit'. He is crate trained, although like many puppies he really doesn't want to stop and go into his crate. After all, there are lots of things to do and not enough time to get them all done. He is also house trained, although he is a puppy still so you wouldn't want to leave and not have him in his crate!
Val is a real sweetheart. Val is Rudy's sister. She is very shy until she gets to know you but has lots of Boxer love to give to the person that would like to help her blossom. Isn't she beautiful? She is much more fine boned than Rudy and looks all girl. She likes to play and does get along with other dogs. Val is very submissive to other dogs and a little afraid when first meeting them but she comes around. Val is looking for a forever home where she can find someone to love and cuddle with her. She wants a best friend.
If you would be interested in adopting either of these cute babies please contact BoxAR rescue by filling out their online application.

"Muffin"

|
9 1/2 yr. old spayed female peke. Muffin is a larger peke at 14.5 pounds. She has severe dry eye which requires eye ointment 2-4 times daily. This condition was left untreated by a former owner and has caused Muffin to be almost totally blind. We believe she can see shadows.
Muffin's coat is slowly coming back after she lost most of it due to severe flea infestation which had also been left untreated. Poor Muffin started out her life much loved by a dear owner who sadly passed away when Muffin was 7 years old. She was then "inherited" by a neglectful family member. She's now with us and is doing well.
To adopt Muffin you must first fill out an application at the Pekingese Club of America website: http://www.pekingeseclub.org/

"Mickey"
|
Mickey is an 8 month old, neutered male Lab/German Shepherd mix. He is up to date on shots, on Interceptor and Advantage. He is the perfect family dog! He gets along very well with other dogs and respects horses. I had to drag him to a horse show with me and he was wonderful.
He loves kids and was giving a little orphan kitten kisses and snuggling her when she cried.
He's not a barker unless someone pulls into the driveway. He is completely housebroken and we're also working on crate training. He still has alot of puppy in him but is not destructive in the house. Just an all around great guy!

"Murphy"
This is Murphy. He was abandoned at a kennel in Florida, his owner has not so much as called to check on him nor paid for his kennel stay in over a year. In the close up picture, I know his ear looks bad- it is an ear infection that is in its middle stages of healing, I'm working very hard on it. I will be bringing Murphy home to Toledo with me on July 14th.
Murphy is a collie mix who we are guessing is about 10 years old. He is fully potty trained, neutered, but will need to be updated on his shots (I will take care of this if needed). I am guessing he is about 50 lbs. He is good with other dogs, very quiet and sweet personality. He is a great eater, he hardly ever barks. He does have arthritis, but I know it would get better with a softer surface to lay on and some TLC (and maybe a few baby asprins). He would be perfect for a single person or someone older, he is a very low maintenence dog. He just likes to lay around and relax and be petted.
Murphy deserves a second chance, and he deserves to be loved and have a warm comfortable bed for his last few years. He is a very loving dog, I can't stand to see him live out his last years on a cement floor. If you would like to give Murphy a shot at a real life again, please notify me immediately. This is a very special dog.

"Miss Lucy"
|
Miss Lucy was a stray 12 + yr. old poodle pulled from a lower michigan shelter in pretty rough shape. She weighed only 4 1/2 pounds and was literally skin over bones. She now weighs a whopping 7 1/2 pounds, has had a complete dental which resulted in the removal of many rotton, infected teeth, and is up to date on her vaccines. She's tested negative for heartworm and is on prevention. She does have some vision and hearing impairment. She can see well enough to jump up on furniture or go up stairs, but has difficulty getting back down. I believe it's a depth perception problem of some kind? Because of her sight difficulties, she'll need a fenced yard to prevent her from wandering off and getting lost again.
Lucy still gets somewhat playful when the mood strikes her and is holding her own with the other dogs in her current foster home. She is not completely housebroken and does need to "go" more often than a younger dog would. She loves to sleep with her foster mom, but is content to sleep in her little doggy bed if she has to.
If you're looking for a sweet, loyal little old lady, then Lucy's your girl! Personal and vet references are required to adopt Lucy.

"Beau and Brandi"
BEAU
11 yr. old, 22 1/2 lb. terrier mix, neutered, up to date on shots. Beau is in need of a dental which we hope to get done in the next couple of weeks. He is a friendly old man who loves to lay on the couch and watch the world go by. He likes car rides, being petted, and his life long companion Brandi. He gets along with our crew of small dogs and ignores the cat. While he doesn't play with our 6 yr. old daughter he seems to get along with children also. Though the shelter he was pulled from listed him as a terrier mix, our vet feels he's a possible Lhasa-poodle mix. We very much would like him and Brandi to be placed together, though it's not a strict requirement.
May 6, 2003 - Sad Update on Beau: Beau passed away last night. I was so hoping for more time for him. Either here with us or in a new home of his own. This seemed rather sudden, but I know that as a senior he wouldn't have been around forever. A little longer would've been quite wonderful though.
BRANDI
Brandi, 11 year old, spayed female terrier mix, up to date on shots. Brandi is a 20.5 pound terrier mix who doesn't act her age. She loves to play with our other dogs and likes my 6 year old daughter. She too, ignores our cat. Our vet felt she may have some Manchester terrier or miniture pinscher in her mix. She has more energy than her buddy Beau and feels the need to watch over him and one of our other dogs. She's an extremely smart girl who knows how to open cupboard doors, baby gates, and has found herself on the other side of our enclosed deck? She would definately need both a fenced yard and a watchful eye. While Beau would possibally adjust to life without Brandi, we feel that Brandi would not do well left alone and would need a stay at home human or another dog friend to keep her company. Ideally we'd like them to be adopted together.
Personal as well as vet references are required to adopt Brandi and/or her friend beau. Both Brandi and Beau are located in upper Michigan. For more information and

"Chester"
|
Chester is a very sweet hound mix. He is four years old, neutered, current on vaccinations and heartworm negative. Chester was found as a stray and brought to a local vet clinic as he needed treatment for gunshot wounds. A bullet fractured Chester's hind leg, and he has tolerated a cast for the past six weeks with only a little complaining! The cast will be removed in a few weeks, and Chester will be looking for a home of his own. He is a very personable dog who gets along with everyone.
