"Crystal"
Crystal was found wandering the streets in Western Kentucky. She was taken to the shelter, where a family soon took her home. However, when that did not work out, a foster home stepped up to keep her safe. She is 2-3 years old, spayed, UTD on all shots, heartworm negative and on Heartguard. Crystal loves children and gets along well with other animals. She is working on her housetraining so she will be ready for her new family.
If you can offer Crystal the home she deserves please contact Shirley Buford at shirley.buford@uky.edu or phone (home) 270-928-2450, (work) 270-928-2168, (cell) 270-994-8440 or Christy James at cmjames@uky.edu or phone (home) 270-988-1748, (work) 270-928-2168 (cell) 270-969-8278

"Smokey"
|
Smokey’s story is one sure to tear at your heartstrings. He belonged to a man who no longer wanted him and planned to just turn him loose to fend for himself. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan happened to find out and took him to a shelter where more good people contacted rescue.
Smokey is a big boy around 5 years young, 60 lbs, blue merle with docked tail. He is a sweet, sweet boy who rode quietly in the car to his foster home, once there got in his crate and promptly went to sleep! He is UTD on shots and has been neutered.
Smokey should have been named Shadow........he likes to follow you around and stick to you like a shadow! If you are looking for a go-everywhere and hang out with you kind of dog, he is perfect for you! Smoke gets along with other animals very well. He has been very good with the cat, other dogs, chickens and goats. He listens well and knows No! and sit. He can't get enough attention. We have been working on teaching him about personal space and keeping his paws off the couch/bed. He is pretty smart, just a little insecure right now and needy. As he settles in here he has been getting a little more independent.
Smoke is great in the car and in the house. He is housetrained and doesn't chew stuff except doggie stuff. He will occasionally pull a tasty morsel out of the trash, though. He will go into a crate on command, but we leave him out. He is pretty quiet, doesn't bark a whole lot.

"Merlin"
|
This cute little boy is Merlin. Merlin is a black bi with a docked tail. He is about 6 months old, neutered and UTD on shots. Since Merlin is so young he is a blank slate just waiting for the right family to begin writing his life story. He fits in well with his foster siblings and should have no problem becoming some lucky family’s new best friend.

"Charlie"
|
Charlie has been making up for lost time. Picked up from the Scott County Animal Shelter at the beginning of June, 2007, he appeared to be malnourished, with no muscle mass or chest development, but he was otherwise a happy, high spirited, young man. Since he's been in a foster home with regular meals and exercise, he now has a sleek athletic look with muscles perfect for leaping and chasing his foster friends in the back yard. He's a handsome leggy black tri with amber eyes, 23" tall at the shoulder. At just over a year old, he's a typical Aussie, high energy, and looking for fun. Although he can be boisterous, he's very friendly, knows basic commands although sometimes pretends not to, and is learning proper manners. This has always been a beautiful moving dog, and with his athletic ability and air time, he has all the makings of a major frisbee, agility, or fly ball dog. He came housebroken and crate trained and walks well on leash. He gets along well with other dogs but hasn't been observed interacting with cats yet. He has been checked for hip displaysia and xrayed and is perfectly normal. He is neutered and microchipped. Additional pictures are available upon request.

Sydney the Aussie pup
More Sydney the Aussie
Sydney is a beautiful, blue merle female with a full tail and blue eyes. She is around 11 months old, spayed, heartworm negative and UTD on shots. Sydney is a petite, energetic young pup who simply enjoys life, is very smart and loves to be taught new things. She gets along well with other dogs, loves people, but can be a bit shy and timid around men. Housetraining is progressing very well, she goes in a crate willingly and sleeps through the night without a sound, waiting patiently for you to take her out in the morning. She walks well on leash, loves water, snow and has discovered the joy of tennis balls and stuffed toys. Sydney would benefit from obedience class and an active lifestyle, but will settle down for some quality time with her family. She likes to chase birds and deer so a fenced yard would be best. She is good with small dogs, has yet to be exposed to cats.

"Annie"
Why? Why was this beautiful little blue merle girl dropped over the fence into a crowded animal control shelter in the middle of the night? This is the only question you can ask when you meet Annie. She's so pretty and so sweet and loving. She has unusual coloring because she's almost entirely white, with some occasional blue merle freckles scattered around, blue merle ears and around her eyes, and a round blue merle spot on her rear end. One eye is brown, the other is half blue and half brown. She has a little blue teardrop under her right eye. Annie has absolutely no hearing or vision issues. Annie is a sweet little love who was diagnosed HW positive, was treated and is now HW negative. Annie has developed occasional incontinence which is being evaluated at this time. She enjoys bones and squeaky toys although she does not squeak them much. She nudges and gives kisses for attention. She has two foster sisters and two foster brothers and gets along well with them.

"Penny"
|
Penny is a female Finnish Spitz, approximately 7 years old. She is a really good girl, although this breed has a tendency to be VERY vocal and demanding at times. She is supposed to weigh 25 - 30 lbs and when I pulled her from the shelter she weighed 55 lbs. I have never seen a more obese dog in my life. Since that time she has been on Hill's RD diet to help her lose weight and has lost about 10 lbs. Still a ways to go. She is a nice girl and deserves better than she has had in the past. She is somewhat hand shy and will cringe when someone reaches to pet her.
Penny is spayed and UTD on all vaccinations. She has been tested for heartworms and has been on Heartguard since then. She lives with her foster mom (Sue) in the greater Kansas City, MO area.
