"Graycee"
Graycee is a 9 month old, petite blue merle female who weighs just 32 pounds. Both eyes are half blue half brown, she is UTD on shots, on HW preventative and will be spayed prior to going to her new home. She was rescued from a neglectful situation in May and lived with a kind woman and her two kids until coming into ARPH rescue. Although they loved Graycee very much, they knew she needed a home where she could have more attention and training.

Her former mom had this to say about Graycee……

“My kids are 10 and 13 and Graycee loves to play and wrestle with them. She plays Frisbee and plays tetherball. Graycee is very gentle. My daughter has a 3 pound mini-doxie and when you watch them play, you can clearly see Graycee being intentionally GENTLE. She really believes herself to be a lapdog. She loves to be beside her people, lavishing love on them. She is housebroken and she won't chew furniture, shoes, etc and is ALWAYS happy and ready to play.”

Since coming into her ARPH foster home she has shown all of those traits and more. She walks well on leash although with some pulling that training can easily manage and rides great in the car. Graycee will go in her crate easily for a treat, although she prefers not to be crated and will fuss just a little at night when she does go in.

While she is energetic and will need a firm, loving family and continued training, Graycee is a super smart girl who lives to play, yet will settle down once she has had her fun. She would do very well in agility, Frisbee or any other activity you would like to try! We discovered she loves the water and will swim, jump and splash in the lake as long as you let her. She does very well with other dogs of all sizes. She has not been loose around cats, but has met them while on leash and seemed interested in play. Graycee has a very healthy bark for a small dog and will let you know when there is something that needs your attention!

"Ruby"
Ruby is a 4 year-old, red Australian Shepherd. Ruby is housebroken with great house manners in general. She has been a member of a family and is great with all people. She is good with most other dogs, but she is not great with cats. She needs to be a dog who lives with her family in the house because she can get bored if left outside and can be somewhat of an escape artist. Ruby has a really sweet personality and can be a great companion if given enough attention. Please call us at 859-887-8733 to inquire about Ruby. If you get our voice mail, just leave a message with your name and a convenient time to call you, - we will call you back! We prefer that you call us rather than e-mail. If we can talk with you we can answer your questions, and make sure Ruby is the right dog for you!

"Buddy"
Buddy is looking for a new family to call his own. He is 8-9 years old, blue merle 48 pounds, neutered, vaccinated, house trained and very well behaved. He is good with children and other dogs but will chase cats that run. He has separation anxiety and is afraid of thunderstorms. That is why his family has placed him in an Aussie foster home. He is a perfect gentleman except on stormy days when he is alone at home when he can be so fearful that he is frantic. Ideally he would have a family where someone is home during the day or could take him along for the ride. He is a perfect rider in the back seat.

If you can provide a home for Buddy which will be his "port in the storm," please contact Anne Pritchett at apritch@roadrunner.com or Jane at augiehills@yahoo.com.

"Bear"
Bear is a little guy, but he?s very smart and very quick. What he lacks in size, he makes up for by using his whole body when he plays with the other dogs. He enjoys running around with a toy in his mouth and the Jolly Critters squirrel ball is his favorite. Bear had a bad start in life with a breeder whose training techniques do not appear to have included positive reinforcement but he is quite happy and settled in his foster home. He trusts his foster parents completely. He does have some fear issues and needs to have lots of experiences with his new family. Obedience training would be a perfect start. He is very well-behaved but obedience training really creates a bond between the dog and the owner and exposes the dog to new situations and builds confidence. Bear is house-trained, has been neutered, is up to date on all of his vaccinations, was heartworm negative and has been on heartworm prevention since he was tested. He?s a happy boy and has a little white V on his chin for Valentine, maybe?

"Gus"
Gus is a 5 year old red tri Aussie with lots of energy. He is housebroken, neutered, and knows how to sit. He is extremely intelligent and has tons of personality. He is so eager to please and is the happiest dog I have ever seen. Gus does well with cats but he may be too rambunctious for small children.

Gus has been diagnosed with bone cancer but it is not spreading (the tumor has shrunk) and he shows no signs of the presence of this disease except for occasional pain which is managed with medication.

Gus needs a home where he can be an only dog or the only male dog. He loves to play with other dogs but his favorite companion is a person.

Contact Sue at 606-783-9955 if you can offer this boy a home. Adopters with Aussie experience are preferred.

"Butters"
I have a little Pekingese pup that I took in from my work (I am a vet tech at an animal hospital in Fayetteville, NC). He was a little pet store pup that had 2 severe strangulated umbilical hernias. The pet store wanted to euthanize him rather than spend money on him to repair his hernias. Since I am a surgery tech who had a Peke (he died of bladder cancer) the Vet brought him down to surgery for me to see. I agreed to pay for the surgery and find him a home.

The pet store relinquished ownership, he had a successful surgery and now needs to be placed in a forever home. I have had his shots completed (4 Dhlpp-c, Bord and Rabies) as well as have him on heartworm prevention (heartgard) and flea control (frontline). I have had him neutered, and he is ready to go to his new home. I have also crate trained him. He is GREAT with big dogs (I have all Dobes and 2 Newfie mixes) and cats (which I have as well). He is not fully housebroken, but I think that's more me not really knowing how to housebreak a smaller dog. Dobes seem to housebreak a lot easier than the Peke.

"Muffin"
Muffin needs a good home, without small children. She is great with other dogs and adults.

Muffin is a 3 year mix of Golden Retriever and Great Pyrenese. She is spayed and current on all shots. She is about 60 pounds and looks like a yellow lab.

She has been through obedience training. She knows "sit" "stay" "down" "leave it" "come" and "place".

Please consider adopting this wonderful dog. Contact Meredith at 513.252.7372 or mlanders@cinci.rr.com

"Mama"
Super sweet female Pit mix was abandoned pregnant at a high-kill shelter in Melbourne, Florida. She was a wonderful mommy to 5 pups who have all been adopted. Now poor Mama is all alone & facing euthanasia simply due to overcrowding.

Even after all her time at this shelter, she remains friendly, happy, & playful. PLEASE help her if you can! She has so much love left to give & so much life left to live!

I will help with transport as needed. She is healthy, up to date with shots, & will be spayed upon adoption. This is her last week to get help- she will be euthanized in the next few days! If you can help or know someone who can- please call christina at 321-952-5709, or contact the South Animal Care & Adoption Center at 321-253-6608

06-05-07 UPDATE!

Great news! Mama is going to a wonderful rescue where she will have a better chance of adoption without having to worry about being euthanized! She still needs a home, so if you are interested please contact Christina.

"Maestro"
Got toys? Let's talk!

Maestro is a handsome little 5 year old chihuahua in St. Louis, Missorui. He is just 7.5 pounds, full of personality and loves toys. Throughout the day he finds toys in the house and stores them in his crate. Then, he likes to snuggle up with ALL the toys :)

Maestro's personality is very typical of a chihuhaua. He is very devoted and protective of his owner. He also tends to bond very closely with one person. This little guy walks well on a leash, loves to snuggle, and to top it off, he is good with house training. Maestro does tend to favor women over men. He would not be suited to a home with small children.

Adoption fee: $200. Go to www.stlchihuahua.org for more information

All of our dogs have been tested for heart worms & other parasites. They are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, on flea/tick/heart worm preventative, micro-chipped and receive any other necessary medical care.

If you can't adopt, consider being a sponser of a chihuahua. You sure could make some tails wag!
