"Graycee"
Graycee is a 9 month old, petite blue merle female who weighs just 32 pounds. Both eyes are half blue half brown, she is UTD on shots, on HW preventative and will be spayed prior to going to her new home. She was rescued from a neglectful situation in May and lived with a kind woman and her two kids until coming into ARPH rescue. Although they loved Graycee very much, they knew she needed a home where she could have more attention and training.
Her former mom had this to say about Graycee……
“My kids are 10 and 13 and Graycee loves to play and wrestle with them. She plays Frisbee and plays tetherball. Graycee is very gentle. My daughter has a 3 pound mini-doxie and when you watch them play, you can clearly see Graycee being intentionally GENTLE. She really believes herself to be a lapdog. She loves to be beside her people, lavishing love on them. She is housebroken and she won't chew furniture, shoes, etc and is ALWAYS happy and ready to play.”
Since coming into her ARPH foster home she has shown all of those traits and more. She walks well on leash although with some pulling that training can easily manage and rides great in the car. Graycee will go in her crate easily for a treat, although she prefers not to be crated and will fuss just a little at night when she does go in.
While she is energetic and will need a firm, loving family and continued training, Graycee is a super smart girl who lives to play, yet will settle down once she has had her fun. She would do very well in agility, Frisbee or any other activity you would like to try! We discovered she loves the water and will swim, jump and splash in the lake as long as you let her. She does very well with other dogs of all sizes. She has not been loose around cats, but has met them while on leash and seemed interested in play. Graycee has a very healthy bark for a small dog and will let you know when there is something that needs your attention!

"Ruby"
|
Ruby is a 4 year-old, red Australian Shepherd. Ruby is housebroken with great house manners in general. She has been a member of a family and is great with all people. She is good with most other dogs, but she is not great with cats. She needs to be a dog who lives with her family in the house because she can get bored if left outside and can be somewhat of an escape artist. Ruby has a really sweet personality and can be a great companion if given enough attention. Please call us at 859-887-8733 to inquire about Ruby. If you get our voice mail, just leave a message with your name and a convenient time to call you, - we will call you back! We prefer that you call us rather than e-mail. If we can talk with you we can answer your questions, and make sure Ruby is the right dog for you!

"Buddy"
Buddy is looking for a new family to call his own. He is 8-9 years old, blue merle 48 pounds, neutered, vaccinated, house trained and very well behaved. He is good with children and other dogs but will chase cats that run. He has separation anxiety and is afraid of thunderstorms. That is why his family has placed him in an Aussie foster home. He is a perfect gentleman except on stormy days when he is alone at home when he can be so fearful that he is frantic. Ideally he would have a family where someone is home during the day or could take him along for the ride. He is a perfect rider in the back seat.
If you can provide a home for Buddy which will be his "port in the storm," please contact Anne Pritchett at apritch@roadrunner.com or Jane at augiehills@yahoo.com.

"Bear"
Bear (who could just as easily be named Grizzly!) and his littermate, Panda, were delivered to the local shelter by their breeder because they would not herd. She took them there in a wire crate with no bottom and their little paws were going through the wire. They were terrified. And they had been mistreated.
Bear is a very gentle dog who actively seeks affection and attention. He enjoys giving "Bear hugs!" He loves to play with the Jolly Mouse and keeping it away from a foster sister who keeps him very busy playing. He gets along quite well with the other four dogs in his foster home. Bear has a really big, thick coat; he is small and will never be a large dog. His mane is so huge he looks like a lion. He is going to continue to require positive reinforcement and consistency to overcome the mistreatment he received. Obedience training is strongly recommended because he will develop a lot more confidence with humans. Sadly, humans had really let him down before he was taken to the shelter. He has been a very quick learner in his foster home and he will be a wonderful companion where ignoring chickens and ducks will not be a challenge for him.
Bear is frightened of strangers, especially men, and his very protective nature kicks in when he has to deal with a stranger. He would do best in a home which is quiet, without a lot of people passing in and out constantly. His foster family is taking him out and about to help with the socialization process.
Bear has been fully vaccinated, is heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention, and has been neutered. He is ready for his forever home.

"Gus"
Gus is a 5 year old red tri Aussie with lots of energy. He is housebroken, neutered,
and knows how to sit. He is extremely intelligent and has tons of
personality. He is so eager to please and is the happiest dog I have ever
seen. Gus does well with cats but he may be too rambunctious for small children.
Gus has been diagnosed with bone cancer but it is not spreading (the tumor has
shrunk) and he shows no signs of the presence of this disease except for
occasional pain which is managed with medication.
Gus needs a home where he can be an only dog or the only male dog. He loves to play with other dogs but his favorite companion is a person.
Contact Sue at 606-783-9955 if you can offer this boy a home. Adopters with
Aussie experience are preferred.

"Butters"
I have a little Pekingese pup that I took in from my work (I am a vet tech at an animal hospital in Fayetteville, NC). He was a little pet store pup that had 2 severe strangulated umbilical hernias. The pet store wanted to euthanize him rather than spend money on him to repair his hernias. Since I am a surgery tech who had a Peke (he died of bladder cancer) the Vet brought him down to surgery for me to see. I agreed to pay for the surgery and find him a home.
The pet store relinquished ownership, he had a successful surgery and now needs to be placed in a forever home. I have had his shots completed (4 Dhlpp-c, Bord and Rabies) as well as have him on heartworm prevention (heartgard) and flea control (frontline). I have had him neutered, and he is ready to go to his new home. I have also crate trained him. He is GREAT with big dogs (I have all Dobes and 2 Newfie mixes) and cats (which I have as well). He is not fully housebroken, but I think that's more me not really knowing how to housebreak a smaller dog. Dobes seem to housebreak a lot easier than the Peke.

"Maestro"
Got toys? Let's talk!
Maestro is a handsome little 5 year old chihuahua in St. Louis, Missorui. He is just 7.5 pounds, full of personality and loves toys. Throughout the day he finds toys in the house and stores them in his crate. Then, he likes to snuggle up with ALL the toys :)
Maestro's personality is very typical of a chihuhaua. He is very devoted and protective of his owner. He also tends to bond very closely with one person. This little guy walks well on a leash, loves to snuggle, and to top it off, he is good with house training. Maestro does tend to favor women over men. He would not be suited to a home with small children.
Adoption fee: $200. Go to www.stlchihuahua.org for more information
All of our dogs have been tested for heart worms & other parasites. They are up to date on all their shots, spayed or neutered, on flea/tick/heart worm preventative, micro-chipped and receive any other necessary medical care.
If you can't adopt, consider being a sponser of a chihuahua. You sure could make some tails wag!
