"Austin"
I would like to introduce you to Austin. He is a wonderful black bi boy, with copper trim. He is about 3 yrs old and has a cute flowing tail. Austin has tons of personality and loves people and other dogs. He loves to go for walks, but is also makes a super couch potato and enjoys lounging with you on the sofa watching the game. He is house broken and is UTD on all his vaccines. He is on heartworm preventative and frontline. Austin gets a chance to play and meet other dogs and people on a regular basis and takes it all in stride. I just love his soulful deep brown eyes and his wonderful happy expression. Austin has also met children and cats, with no problem. About the only thing Austin doesn’t like is the vaccum cleaner! He will go and hide when I turn it on! Thank goodness that’s only temporary! Austin is so deserving of a forever home… are you the one?

"Callie"
|
Callie is a fantastic dog. She is very sweet, eager to please, plays with a tennis ball by herself. She has brown eyes and a beautiful blue merle coat. Callie is around 3 years old.
She is crate trained and plays very nicely with other dogs. She loves attention and petting, likes to play with toys and wants a person of her own. She walks OK on a leash but will pull if you let her get out in front of you. This girl is bright, friendly, gives a warning bark when a car pulls into the driveway and is very deserving of her own forever home. She is located in Louisville, KY.
An adoption application is required, please contact Anne Pritchett at apritch@roadrunner.com or Jane Hills at augiehills@yahoo.com for more information about Callie.

"Jack"
|
Wow, what a great dog! This boy is the poster child for Australian Shepherd, he has it all: the looks and the brains! You can see how gorgeous he is, although it is hard to see his beautiful eyes in pictures. One eye is bright blue and the other is half bright blue and half green. He is a big boy, 58 lbs, 1-2 years old, red merle, neutered, up to date on shots.
Jack has only been with us a short time, but he is very smart and learns very fast. He is a little puppy-ish; he still needs to learn some things about living in a house, like what to pick up and play with and what NOT to pick up. We have not had to correct him twice on anything. He has a very easy going, submissive personality. He is sensitive enough that a voice command is all he needs.
Jack LOVES to be petted and he will snuggle with you for hours at a time! He gets along great with the other dogs, plays with our other Aussie, and so far is ignoring the cat. He has been very good in the house, although there was an "accident" with a stuffed animal one day when we were out, so he stays in a crate when nobody is home. He is loose in the house the rest of the time and is being very good. If he picks up something he shouldn't, all it takes is a quick No! and he drops it and does not bother it again. He is a little timid, but very bright!

"Kelly"
|
Kelly's super intelligence is demonstrated by his amazing progress in his foster home! When he came to ARPH about the first of November, he was unbridled, unsocialized, untrained, wild, exuberant, enthusiastic Aussie energy. He's still exuberant and enthusiastic but he has learned basic commands and even sits to wait to go through a door and sits when he gets inside the door. He loves car rides. He doesn't mind people tapping on the car windows, in fact he pretty much loves everybody. He loves other dogs and is eager to play. He tolerates cats well. He wants to play with them, with all 57# of his exuberant 9 - 10 mo. energy.
Kelly is housebroken, neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. This boy has enormous potential and is looking for a home where he can be all he can be! Kelly really needs an experienced owner who can channel his energy in a positive energy. Did you say agility?
An adoption application must be completed, please contact Anne Pritchett at apritch@roadrunner.com or Jane at augiehills@yahoo.com for more information.

"Kipper"
|
Kipper is a very energetic, fun loving dog! He likes to play with other dogs, but runs away from them if they get too aggressive. Kipper will do best with a family that can give him lots of attention and play with him a lot. He will thrive with plenty of room to run around. Kipper will sometimes whine for attention (cute). Kipper does well with cats, horses, and other animals. Kipper is jumpy sometimes but really he just always wants someone to play with. He will be happy with kids and an active family. Kipper's energy may be too much for older people. Though Kipper loves to play, he also likes to be cuddled and loved. Kipper is the perfect pet for any family that wants a playful, cute, and loving puppy! He is a red merle about 6 months old and up to date on shots.
An adoption application must be completed, please contact Anne Pritchett at apritch@roadrunner.com or Jane at augiehills@yahoo.com for more information.

"Peppertail"
|
This is Peppertail, a 6 y.o. registered Labrador Retriever. He was relinquished by his owner (along with his brother, Pepper) after the owner thought he couldn't spend enough time with them.
Peppertail is a really laid-back kind of guy, so loving, gentle and sweet - I have come to think that maybe the owners simply didn't want to deal with his ongoing ear issues. He has a chronic yeast infection mainly in one ear that has obviously gone untreated for many years. He has developed scar tissue from repeated shaking and scratching so that his ear is thick like an elephant's skin. It only requires frequent cleaning and medicated drops to stay under control. It certainly doesn't take away from his handsome good looks! He knows basic obedience, gets along with all other dogs, cats, people and loves being an inside/outside dog - mainly just being with YOU! House/kennel/crate trained, loves to ride in the car and go for walks. UTD shots/rabies/HW neg./ Neutered

"Griffy"
|
Griffy is a loveable schnauzer-poodle mix. He was saved from euthanasia by the animal hospital I work for. He is a neutered male and is updated on all his vaccines. He will be 3 years old in July, and he weighs 26 lb. He needs a home with no other dogs. He may need some training and socializing as he is very cautious around new people, but I have never witnessed him being aggressive towards anyone.
If you are interested in Griffy, please e-mail me at cuterh@hotmail.com.

"Big Un"
|
Big Un, or "Gentle Ben," as he has been nicknamed for his sweet disposition, is to the contrary your average sized Boxer mix. At one year, Big Un suffers from kennel anxiety and has been placed on a low dosage of anti-anxiety medication to calm his fears. Outside he is much more relaxed and loves to run and play ball.
Big Un was brought to us at only four months of age by a good Samaritan who witnessed him being attacked by a dog that may in fact have been HIS OWN MOTHER!! No doubt the root of his anxiety. Initially Big Un would not venture out of his kennel. His anxiety has GREATLY improved, but must be respected and understood.
A home with children fourteen years or older is best for this playful pup. Big Un is quite the "ladies pooch" getting along very well with female dogs and has many girlfriends at the shelter that he loves to frolic with. Male dogs and cats need NOT apply.
Big Un has been altered and up to date with all his shots. Now all he needs is a new family to love.

"Senior Irish Setter & Rottie"
|
URGENT!
A rather sad case we just heard of 2 days ago, and so far have not found any one with room to foster or adopt: Two lovely, quiet 7-yr old dogs (neutered, slightly overweight, male Irish Setter, and his companion a 7-yr old spayed female Rottie) both great with kids of all ages. They'd been together with the same owner since puppyhood. When the owner became unable to care for them they were dumped at a local high kill shelter. They were due to be euthanized today just because of their age and shelter overcrowding, but we got an extension over the holiday weekend by promising to advertise for foster/adopters.
I have been out putting up posters everywhere possible, sending emails, and talking to kennel-owners and veterinarians all day. These dogs are laid-back, dear and loving, educated sensible and loyal. They are up-to-date on their shots. Unfortunately I do not have a picture of the dogs at this time.
Any one wishing to help can contact me or my friend Darlyne (we'll get them out of the pound if we have somewhere to place them!) at: (585) 234-4790 Voice Mail
If voice mail is full, Please send email to pawsnclaws2@hotmail.com. If you are interested in adopting an animal, please fill out the online application.

"Jade"

|
This is Jade. She is a 19 week old Akita. She was given up by her owner because she no longer had time for her. Jade gets along great with other dogs, cats and even small children!! She does have a few flaws though. She lacks self confidence. She is unsure of adults and will cower if approached too quickly. Jade also submissively urinates when she feels she is going to "get in trouble". She is afraid of loud noises such as yelling. Physically she is fine and really does like to cuddle and smooch when it is on her terms.
She needs an experienced dog home where she will be your #1.
Jade will be up to date on her shots and will be spayed before placement. There will also be an adoption contract and home visits involved to ensure that this girl gets into her forever home.
Contact Lisa Fortin at 360-240-9277 for more information on this little girl.
