"Max"

Meet Max. He is 2½ year old purebred Dalmatian. Max is looking for a loving home that can give him lots of exercise. He is house trained and crate trained. He needs a family that will not leave him penned up for more than eight hours per day and a family that is active. He loves to go on walks and hikes. He also likes to take short car trips to the nearest dog park to run for hours.

Max is very well behaved and has a wonderful temperament. He is one of the happiest dogs I have met. People say that Dalmatians are mean and aggressive, but this is just not true about Max. He was taken to many socialization classes when he was a pup, so because of this, he loves to meet new people and other dogs. He does not live with any children, but loves when the neighbor kids come over to play with him.

Max would do well in a home with children or another dog to play with, or both. He gets lonely when left alone for too long, and he currently lives with another dog, so they keep each other occupied. I also would recommend that he is homed with a family that has a nice fenced in yard. We are unable to have a fence in our subdivision, so when he is outside, he has to be tied up. This prevents him from getting enough exercise. Max will also need to be an indoor dog because of his short hair. He gets cold in the winter if left outside for too long.

If you are interested in Max, please feel free to either call or email me with additional questions and possibly set up a time to come and meet him. My email is jackieschwoerer@yahoo.com, or you can call me at 920-484-3036.

"Miss Glory and little One"
Miss Glory (born 1 Jan 1998) and little One (born 7 Feb 1999) are mother and daughter Rat Terriers. Both have chips, are spayed, and need a new home. They are good with cats, and are spoiled rotten, but will give you all the love you can handle. Prefer they be adopted together.

"Fudge"

Fudge is a beautiful black lab mix and is approximately 1 1/2 -2yrs of age. He came to us after being hit by a car. His only injury was a limp which lasted for about a week and he is now in tip top shape. He loves to swim and play with toys and gets along with everyone! He has been kept both inside and out, does well with a doggie door and invisible fencing.

We will provide assistance in having him neutered upon his adoption and are willing to travel within reason to help him reach the right home. Please consider giving this wonderful dog a home. We have two other rescues at this time in addition to our family pets and space is limited.

"Jimmy"

Jimmy is an older border collie who was abandoned in the country in West Virginia. He's about 9 years old and weighs 43 pounds. He's neutered and has his shots. He's in foster care right now and his foster parents say he's great. He's smart, very focused on people, housetrained, and he doesn't bark much at all. He's okay around cats.

Jimmy is still very healthy and happy and would make a great companion. Please give him a chance. Email humanesociety@mountain.net or call (304) 463-3373 for more information.

"Betty Boop"

Betty Boop is a 1-2 year old, 35 pound American Staffordshire Terrier who is such a sweetheart. She was rescued from an abusive owner and had burn marks all over her ears and tail. She has recovered beautifully and despite what has happened to her, she still adores people. She is gentle, loves to cuddle, is good on leash and has a great personality. She is fixed and is up to date with all her shots.

"Harpo, Chico & Groucho"

RED & WHITE BORDER COLLIE/GOLDEN RETRIEVER BOYS (PA)

"Harpo, Chico & Groucho" were rescued at 8 weeks from a horrible kill shelter. They were supposed to be purebred border collies, at least their mother was. Now that they've grown up and after consulting with many BC people, based on their broader faces, physique and exceptional coats, they are most likely part Golden Retriever. Since those are considered to be the two most intelligent breeds, that is certainly a nice mix! It also means they are less high strung than some BC's, although they are still very active dogs. They would be good flyball or agility candidates, and great for active owners.

They are extremely healthy, fit young dogs (now just over 11 mos. old), current on shots, heartworm negative, and will be neutered at placement (or pre-arrangements may be made with an adopter's veterinarian). After we took them, they immediately came down with parvo - no after effects, of course, and probably they now have lifelong immunity.

Groucho is a bit shy with strangers at first and quiet, Harpo is nearly his twin in looks and personality but a bit more outgoing, and Chico, beside having the most outstanding coat, is the most impish and inquisitive of the three (the ringleader). They were raised with numerous other dogs and cats (they'll chase cats that run, but won't hurt them, and will play with or ignore cats who show no fear of dogs).

They've spent most of their life with us on an enclosed porch with free access to a fenced yard. Rather than that making housebreaking more difficult, I think they have a strong preference for going outdoors. When we bring them in the house, they want right back outside, but that's only a "group" thing. After they are separated they are going to be very responsive to training and will quickly adapt to the new owner's lifestyle.

These boys are VERY social. They would be miserable individually with a working couple where there is no other dog for companionship. They are also strong and rowdy and I wouldn't place them where there are under school age children unless the parents are experienced dog owners and know how to bring up pups and kids together. A fenced yard is required and obedience training is STRONGLY recommended.

These boys have a lot of pep and spunk, need exercise, and I wouldn't recommend them for timid, inexperienced or "lazy" owners. I don't want to scare anybody away, but if you know BC's or Golden Retrievers, you'll understand what I mean.

As particular as we are about the boys going to the right homes, there may be some urgency because we could be moving overseas, probably not before Sept. References will be checked, a homecheck where possible, an adoption contract - all the usual. We're not insisting on a particular adoption "fee," but would appreciate a donation (we've spent a small fortune on these boys) - the priority is getting them to the right homes!

The best way to contact us is by e-mail. Our home phone is (724) 587-0347 and we screen out telemarketers, so leave a message (and we're often outside with the dogs). Good times to reach us by phone are usually 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 7:00-8:30 p.m. We're in PA, 40 miles southwest of Pittsburgh.

Note: Harpo & Groucho are inseparable and must be placed together.
