"Bijou"
Bijou -- Bichon Frise (pronounced -- Bee-Shaun Free-ZAY) female.

Bijou was owner surrendered due to a divorce. The owner working long hours away from home resulting in Bijou being kept in a crate for long periods of time. She had Bijou since she was 6 months old and didn't feel it was far for her to be alone so much without any human attention. Very reluctantly, and with sorrow, thought it would be better for Bijou to be in a loving home with the companionship that Bijou was lacking.

Bijou is a very sweet natured 3 year old girl. She will be 4 years old this January - Whelped: 01-05-04. She weighs 27 pounds, prior owner used self-feeding method, Bijou can easily loose 5-10 pounds. All her shots are up to date, booster, parvo, rabies, heartworm negative and on preventative and has been spayed. She has had excellent medical attention from her prior owner and has no known health problems.

We were told that she likes other dogs, cats and well mannered older children. She seems to be very quiet, no excessive barking, is leash and crate trained and will use piddle pads. It would be nice if she would be adopted by a family with another Bichon. Bijou is in a foster home in Mentor, Ohio with Christine who will attempt to take a few pounds off Bijou before adopting her out.

If you have any questions, or want an Application to Adopt, please contact Audrey -- Audrianne@Voyager.net -- Adoption Donation, Home Visit, Adoption Contract, References Required. We do not ship or transport. Bijou needs to be picked up in Mentor, east of Cleveland, Ohio.

"Iris"
Iris is a little 5 pound, 2 year old, smooth coat female Chihuahua. Fawn with a little black ticking on her back, white chest, collar, feet and white on her face with a blaze on her forehead. She is very, very sweet and loving once she gets to know you, until then, she is shy and will hide. Iris does not like to be picked up by strangers.

Iris was owner surrendered along with Carrie when their 84 year old mistress went into a nursing home. Both are crate trained and trained to use puppy pads. Neither are leash trained as the prior owner, who was disabled, never took them outdoors.

All shots are up to date, heartworm negative, spayed on Sept. 12, 2007 and microchipped. Iris is ready for her "forever" home, hopefully with another Chihuahua or two. Chihuahuas love other Chihuahuas -- and I prefer to place them that way.

"Max"
Max was turned over to rescue as he was being mistreated by his 22 year old owner and other family members. The owner's girlfriend saw him being kicked and thrown against a wall and took him home.

Max is a darling 6 year old, 8 pound, tri-colored (black and tan with white markings) smooth coat, Chihuahua male. DOB: 10-07-99. He is current on all shots, heartworm negative and on monthly year-round preventative and has been neutered. He does require a special diet prescribed by his Veterinarian (Science Diet H/D) due to his chronic colitis, and is on daily medication, (Reglan - inexpensive) to control the colitis. He is housbroken but will occasionally mark, I believe due to the other dogs in the home. He loves to be in his crate and will go in on his own for naps. He responds very well to commands with treats. He is an extremely lovable, sweet boy but really needs to be an only pet and NO CHILDREN. All Chihuahuas like to run, so a fenced-in yard is preferred.

For an Application to Adopt, Please contact his foster Mom, Robin -- RK Death Row Dog Rescue, in Perry, Ohio -- (east of Cleveland) -- doggonegoodcookies@hotmail.com -- or by phone -- 8 am to 10 pm -- 440--259-3344 -- References, Adoption Donation, Adoption Contract Required.

"Jiff"
Jiff was born on a farm in Nov, 2005 to a purebred black and white Border Collie mother, who is kept chained to a dog house, father unknown. Jiff looks like a red and white smooth coat, with tan eyebrows, and some other tan markings. The puppies had very little interaction with humans. At about 3 1/2 months, two of the pups wandered to a neighbor's farm, and the woman there caught them and kept them in the barn. She attempted to 'tame' them, but they lived only outside, without regular human interaction.

I brought Jiff home 2 weeks ago, and he's about 5 months old now. He has made a lot of progress: is comfortable in the house, will now take treats from me, uses the dog door and has had only one accident inside, is very good about going into his crate (knowing that there will always be a yummy kong waiting for him). He knows 'sit' and 'down' and enjoys being groomed, including nails, though he was terrified when I bathed him. He gets along well with my 3 Border Collies, an older male, older female, and 5 year old female, all altered, all rescues. He still needs a lot of socialization, and is frantic about being on leash.

Jiff needs a home where someone will patiently continue to work with him on feeling safe with new situations and people, and help make up for the socialization he missed in his early life. He is neutered, up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and Frontline.

For more information, please email sariver@msn.com, and put Jiff in the subject line. He's a sweet, funny, and playful puppy who needs someone who will make a commitment to giving him the forever home he needs.

"Pepe and Sofie"
This is Pepe and Sofie, miniature greyhounds. They are around 11 years young and were reliquished to the Dog Pound because their owner is going through a difficult time.

Sofie lost her leg in a hunting accident, but that doesn't slow her down. She sometimes walks on her back legs like a human. Pepe has seizures and has to take medicine for them.

Both are about 15 pounds and are very affectionate. What they would like more than anything is to be able to spend the rest of their days in a warm loving lap. We would very much like for them to remain together as they bonded.

"Cowboy"

Cowboy is a Catahoula, 8 months old and has spent the last month in the Dog Pound. Everything is new to him and he is eager to learn. He gets along very well with other dogs and children. He is a growing boy and weighs about 50 pounds now. Car rides are fine with him, he is good and stays in the back seat. Baths aren't his favorite, but he will allow you to give them to him. He is ready to find a forever home so that he can feel secure and become the wonderful adult that he is meant to be.
