"Joss and Bixie"
Special Needs Sweeties

2 Feline Leukemia Positive Cats need Help Finding a Loving Home

The male, roughly 2 years old, long haired cat we are calling Joss.
His little female friend, about 1 year old, we call Bixie.

Personality-wise the cats are:

Very attentive and gentle. In captivity they have been timid and haven't attempted to attack me at all. Before they were trapped I never saw them fight with other cats. When confronted by aggressive cats I always saw them run away. The long haired male is very protective of the young female, which is why we mistakenly took them for mom and offspring. When they roamed free he always allowed her to eat as much of the food as she desired before he'd eat. He would stand guard next to her while she ate. She was his little cheerleader and would always want to play or rub against his face. She always wanted to be right next to him. She is fastidiously clean and was always spotless; her coat sparkled. He was more unkept and she'd often groom him. He was always very patient and extremely tolerant of her. She worships him and would follow everything he did, from the way he walked, to how he'd lay down and would accompany him to wherever he'd wander off. She is very quick and alert, and would always be there first when I'd put the food out. At feeding time she would call out to him to come eat. They would often sleep together in a sunny spot in a ball. Since they are small they looked like one large cat with two heads popping up when awakened.

I am convinced the older male cat was abused and then abandoned by someone down the block since he seems so tame yet frightened of people. He was nervous when he roamed but since he's been contained he seems less nervous and enjoys having regular meals brought to him in his condo and has been eating better than ever. Also he must feel better after getting medical attention. He is still very protective of the little female and I'm careful not to upset her. The younger female dislikes being contained and has been more introverted, hides more but still hasn't exhibited any aggressive tendencies.

They are fully vetted with all their shots and neutered. The older cat was treated for tonsillitis and the younger female had abscess surgery from which she is healing quite well. They have been residing in a kitty condo in my shed (Takoma Park, MD) for the past week and they both have been using the kitty litter box.

I cannot adopt these cats myself since I have two indoor cats already that I don't want to infect. The ideal home for them would be one without cats.

"Leopold"
Leopold is one year old, almost 13 pounds, neutered, up-to-date on his vaccinations and both FIV and FeLV negative. He is a sleek black cat, his most distinctive physical feature being his large gold eyes.

Leopold is an extremely intelligent cat and learns things so quickly that he amazes me. He's very affectionate and most times he would rather be petted and loved on than eat. I don't know how he would get along with small children or with dogs...he has never been exposed to either of them.

For more information about Leopold, please e-mail Kaye.

"Snowpatch"

This is Snowpatch (aka, Patch). She is lovable, tiny, snow white cutie. Her nickname, Patch, obviously comes from her blindness since birth. She was rescued as a starving kitten and grew to be just a pint sized cat. She, along with her companions, DESPERATELY needs a new home. Her owner is ill and no longer able to care for them. She needs a new home immediately.

If you, or someone you know can help her, please call Ashley at 908.268.1354.
