Buddy

Here is an update on Buddy, the chow mix by his new mom, Dorinda Lamb.

Buddy looks to be in good condition. His coat isn't that matted (bascially just the tail is now) and he's friendly. However, after bathing him and brushing him, I have found many sensitive areas. His legs are very sore when touched along with parts of his back. And when you feel through his fur (he has tons of fur), you can count ribs and feel his backbone, but it's not nearly as bad as some of the others there. After seeing and hearing about some of the others, he is the lucky one. They guess he's about 3-4 years old which means he was in that kennel most of his life. He is amazingly friendly for not being socialized much.

The first day I had him, we mostly road together in a car to get home. He wanted to sit in my lap but he's just too big so he had to settle on the consol which didn't look confortable, but he was happy. The first day home, he bounced around in the yard playing with my puppy. He just looked so happy. Since then, he has made himself at home. He waits by the front door for someone to open it so he can jet in. :)

I walk him every night. He starts to get tired about 3 blocks down the road and he's really tired when we get home, but he is still wagging his tail. He doesn't hardly ever bark and he's greeted everyone (people and dogs) wagging his tail. He's doing so much better walking on a leash already. He doesn't pull hardly any now (when we started walking this week, he dragged me everywhere). He rides perfect in the car. He sits in the middle of the back seat and waits patiently for me to tell him it's okay to get out now. I bring him in the house at night and in the middle of the afternoon and he's an angel. He doesn't do anything out of the ordinary and he's actually better in the house than my other 2 dogs. The major problem with him in the house is he has already figured out how to open some of our doors. He can open the bathroom door and the front door. The front door was the first he figured out. :) Everyday, he does something new out of the blue. If you met him right now, you'd never guess what conditions he was in. NEVER! He loves people and will do anything to please. On top of the fact, that he acts trained half the time. The other half of the time, he acts like a young goofy dog.
