"Lollipop"
Hi! My name is Lollipop or Lolli for short! I'm a smooth coat Brussels Griffon and will soon be 9 years old. Don't, for a minute, let that age thing fool you - I am very active and quite playful actually - I love (& hoard) squeaky toys.
Please forgive my glowing eyes, my foster mom doesn't take the best pictures!! In my early days, I was a show dog and received my Championship, and I have had many litters of pups, now I feel it is time for me to find a home where I can be spoiled. I've always lived with Sparky, so if you have room for both of us, we would really like that.
My coat is a silky brown with black tips and my ears usually stand straight up - now my foster mom is calling me "Bat Girl", but that's ok, I love attention of any sorts!! My friends here at Peke-N-Chin have gotten me all fixed up medically to make sure I can be with you a good long time including a dental (I only have 4 teeth left after that!), repair of an inguinal hernia, spay, updated all my shots, and tested for HW, which was negative (and my other bloodwork test was good too).
Whew!, I've sure been through alot in such a short time, but I am still running around and oh, so happy - I always have a smile on my face! Right now I'm in a foster home with 4 shih tzus, 2 chins and my friend Sparky in South Dakota - my foster mom will be happy to answer any questions you might have about me, so email to peg4tzus@msn.com if you want to know more. She can answer any questions you might have as well as get you the adoption application that you will need to fill out.
These folks here want me to have a special loving home so you will need to provide personal and vet references as well as have a home visit before I can come and live with you. My adoption donation is $200.00 or if adopted with Sparky, $350.00 for both, and personally I think we're worth every penny. I am currently living in Sioux Falls, SD. However, they will let me travel out of state so don't be afraid to ask about me. I would love to have a special person to love me. See you soon.
AKC description: The smooth coat Brussels Griffon or Brabancon, after the Belgian national anthem, La Brabonconne, is a direct descendent of the Pug & Belgian dog originally bred as ratters in the mid-1800's. These short faced, big headed, large eyed breeds forever changed the serviceable little ratter into a delightful small companion dog with a strong, broad, up-swept underjaw, and a very short, up-tilted nose placed high between very dark, lustrous eyes with a high domed skull. All of this together conjures that wonderful "pout", which gives the Griffon that almost human expression. No longer serving his original function (in itself obsolete) the Brussels Griffon has evolved into a most intriguing looking, alert and active companion.
NOTE: All our adoption donations go towards our ever mounting vet bills. Thank you for your support. We are also, always looking for more foster homes. The more foster homes we have, the more dogs we can help. THANK YOU!

"Sparky"
Hi, I'm Sparky and yes, I'm a little chubby but I am a happy boy! I'm a smooth coat Brussels Griffon and am 6 1/2 years old. When I was young, I was a show dog and received my Championship. I have always lived with Lollipop and if there is room in your home, I would love to join her also - we don't take up much room at all!
My coat is considered "red" and it is very soft and my ears fold forward so my foster mom is calling me "Sparky Toad", but that's ok - I know she means well! My friends here at Peke-N-Chin have gotten me all fixed up to make sure I can be with you a good long time, with a dental (now my teeth are shiny & bright!), neuter, all my shots updated, I'm HW negative and my other bloodwork was good too!
Right now I'm in a foster home with 4 shih tzus, 2 chins and my friend Lollipop in South Dakota - my foster mom will be happy to answer any questions you might have about me, so email to peg4tzus@msn.com if you want to know more. "Peanut"
Peanut is a darling little Pekingese girl. At only 7 pounds she might be
small in size but she lacks nothing in spirit. She does get along with
other small Pekingese, however, from time to time she does have words over
her food bowl, which she does not like to share.
Peanut was born on 01-04-96 thus was 9 years old on her last birthday.
Black in color and has a loving and sweet disposition. Peanut does not like
to use the doggie door, perhaps she's afraid of the flap, for that reason, I
have paper down for her to potty on -- I do not believe she is housebroken.
Peanut is very quiet, and because of her small size, I will not place her
with large dogs. Another Pekingese around her size would be perfect.
However, I feel she is really looking for a lap of her own to call home.
Peanut is up to date with all shots, is on heartworm preventative, has had
her teeth cleaned, was spayed and will be micro-chipped shortly. She is
ready for someone to love!!!
If Peanut is the little one you have been looking for -- please contact her
foster Mom, Audrey -- Audrianne@Voyager.net -- in Mentor, Ohio for an
Application to Adopt, Home Visit, Adoption Contract, Adoption Donation,
References Required. I do not ship or transport, Peanut must be picked up
at my home.

Koda will make a great family dog.
He is small sized and only 35 lbs. Neutered and up to date on shots.

"Blackie"
|
Blackie is a very sweet natured, 4 year old, 12 pound, black Pekingese male
that was taken by the local dog warden from breeders with over 80 dogs due
to neglect and poor treatment. He was kept caged, so he will need to be
housebroken - he gets along with other small dogs and stands on his hind
legs for attention.
Blackie has been completely vetted, all shots, booster, parvo, rabies,
wormed for hook and whip, bathed for fleas and treated for flea dermatitis,
he is heartworm negative and on preventative, teeth cleaned, microchipped,
and was neutered.
For an Application to Adopt contact Blackie's foster Mom, Audrey --
Audrianne@Voyager.net -- Home Visit -- Adoption Contract -- Adoption
Donation -- References Required. I do not transport or ship, Blackie would
be picked up at my home in Mentor, Ohio, east of Cleveland.

"Fiona"
Fiona's story is one of those that's just so hard to believe. She's a
darling Pekingese female, 2 years old on Sept. 30, 2005, red with a black
mask, and 14 pounds in weight.
Fiona has been kept, tied outside, in
southern Ohio. From the size of her ninnies, she's had a couple of litters,
and that's the problem. She was in season, all the area males were after
her. The owner phoned the Dog Warden to "come and get her -- she's too
much trouble". When we got her, she was thin, dirty, covered with fleas
and ticks. The groomer stopped counting at 50 -- when she was removing all
the ticks on her body.
Fiona received all her shots, booster, parvo, rabies and was spayed on Aug.
11th. She has hook and whip and tested positive for heartworm. She has
been wormed and her heartworm treatments will start on Sept. 15th. Because
of her having heartworm, Fiona will need MONTHLY heartworm pills for the
rest of her life. Fiona is extremely loving and gentle. She is being paper
trained.
If all goes well, Fiona should be available for adoption in October. For an
Application to Adopt, please contact her foster Mom, Audrey --
Audrianne@Voyager.net -- Home Visit, Adoption Contract, Adoption Donation,
References Required. I do not ship or transport, Fiona must be picked up at
my home in Mentor, OH, east of Cleveland.
Update: 11-04-05
Fiona has successfully completed her heartworm
treatments. She is now ready for her "Forever Home"
and can be picked up any time, however, she is scheduled to have another
heartworm (blood) test on Dec. 2nd - but my Veterinarian feels she is
completely cured. This past month, her personality has blossomed, she is
very happy, friendly and at times even smiles. With patience in the
adjustment period from living always outside, then being kenneled and
finally living in a home, this is one little girl who is going to make a
SUPER companion.

"Candy"
Candy was picked up as a stray in March 2001 by a local shelter. She's a lovely blond with self mask, 6-8 years of age, 12 pounds. The shelter listed her as a Pekingese, or she could be a Pekingese - Lhasa Apso mix.
Candy went to live in a foster home, proved to be food aggressive, and was adopted by their daughter. They recently purchased a German Shepherd puppy and gave Candy back to rescue.
Candy loves long walks. She can be quite silly and playful. She loves to gnaw away on pig ears and hoof chewies. She is crate trained and housebroken. Candy gets along with all the other dogs here, big or small, but she does guard her food bowl and chewies. I do not ship or transport, Candy must be picked up at my home near Cleveland, Ohio.
Candy has all her shots, booster, parvo, rabies, is heartworm negative and is on preventative, and is spayed.
If Candy sounds like one you would like to adopt, please e-mail her foster Mom, Audrey -- Audrianne@Voyager.net for an Application to Adopt. Adoption Contract, Home Visit, Adoption Donation, References Required.

"Scarlett"
Scarlett was picked up as a stray by an Ohio shelter. No one claimed her
and since she has only one eye which has Glaucoma, the shelter felt she was
not adoptable.
Scarlett is about 4 years of age, a lovely red color and 13 pounds in
weight. She has had all her shots and when taken in by rescue, found to
have an upper respiratory infection as well as pyometra (uterus infection).
She was put on antibiotics for the respiratory infection which is now
cleared and was spayed for the pyometra. Scarlett is going to need the
Timolol Maleate Ophthalmic Solution drops daily for the rest of her life to
reduce the pressure from Glaucoma, this will cost about $20.00 a month. If
you are not willing to spend this amount monthly for her eye care, please DO
NOT apply to adopt her. She will be placed ONLY with someone who is willing
to care for her remaining eye.
Scarlett's foster Mom, in Columbus, Ohio, says she is a darling little girl,
completely housebroken and very sweet natured, however, she prefers to be
the only child, she does not want to share any attention. So for that
reason, Scarlett will be placed in a household without any other dogs or
cats. Scarlett will be moved to Mentor, Ohio (30 miles east of Cleveland)
as soon as space permits.
If you feel you are the right home for Scarlett, please contact Audrey for
an Application to Adopt -- Home Visit -- Adoption Contract -- Adoption
Donation -- References Required -- Please e-mail Audrey --

"Holly"
Holly, Pekingese female, will be 7 years old on August 1, 2004 -- DOB: 08-01-97. She is a red sable with a full black mask, 10 pounds in weight. Holly appears to be in good health, ignores our cats, loves other Pekingese, loves people, loves to go out the doggie door into her outside run and bark at anything that moves. She comes when called, listens very well, is extremely loveable and gentle. I believe she would be easy to housebreak.
Holly has been completely vetted, all shots, she is heart-worm negative and on Interceptor, her teeth were cleaned, 8 were extracted, she is microchipped and was spayed. When she arrived she had two places on her
hips lacking in hair, we had extensive blood work done and cannot find any problems. My Veterinarian believes the bare spots was due to a hormone problem that was corrected with her spay as there is now fuzz appearing
where she had the hair loss. Holly is very active, and loves to run and play.
I do not ship or transport. Holly must be picked up at my home in Mentor, Ohio -- east of Cleveland. If Holly sounds like the Pekingese you've been dreaming of, please contact Audrey at Audrianne@Voyager.net for an application to adopt. Home visit, adoption contract, adoption donation, references required.

"Sampson"
Sampson is a Bulldog mix, approximately two years old. He is crate-trained, housebroken, neutered and up-to-date on his shots. Sampson is a happy guy who loves to take walks, car rides and hang out with his humans. He is very loyal and trusting. When going out for walks, he is very excited when he firsts goes out, but then settles into a nice gait without pulling. He is very curious and seems happy to be out, exploring the world. His curiosity lures him to say “hello” to humans and dogs he meets on his walks, and his excitement can “put off” some of them, so he will need training to learn to be more socially acceptable. He is currently working on that, and is a very attentive learner.
Sampson will sit in front of his human and gaze into their eyes, eagerly awaiting for a command. He loves treats and responds fabulously to positive-reinforcement training. Sampson will need a confident, laid-back human who can make him feel secure. This guy will be your loyal friend for life if you give him love and kindness. If interested in meeting Sampson, please contact Catalina at 410-675-2744 or complete our on-line application.

"Huka/Daisia"
|
Huka has a skin condition that desparately needs treatment so she can find her forever home - if you can donate towards the cost of treatment please send a check to Recycled Love (specify Huka) at 215 Lanasa Lane, Baltimore, MD 21230. Or Call Catalina at 410-675-2744 for more information!
Update: Well it is official. Daisia (her new name) is not spoiled. Last night she slept in the bed with me and the rest of the dogs. She is doing really well on her potty training, going out every 3 hours or so. She can hold it longer, but since I am home I just take them out anyway. She will sleep at least 9 hours at night in her crate so I know she can do longer periods during the day. She is fitting in well with the other dogs. She is learning how to play and some basic obedience. Her hair is starting to grow in a bit although she still has some scabbing on her body from scratching. I bought some plastic nail covers but they don’t work very well. LOL… So I watch her closely which isn’t hard since she follows me everywhere she can. I think in another week we should have some decent pictures of her with new hair.
Today is bath day (fun) and she has not liked it thus far. I hope she is better today since her skin is not red anymore. It does get a little pink by the end of the day, but I think it is due to her rubbing up against things. She is putting some weight on slowly. She eats and eats and eats, but does not seem to have any food issues. I can go over and pick up her bowl, play in it. She is not aggressive to the other dogs that come over to see if she has anything food left. She will rumble a little but takes my firm NO in stride. She is getting a ton of healthy stuff, vitamins, food, treats, omegas, shark cart. Glucosimin, Etc…. so she will be nice and healthy. Her new parents will need to keep her on a good diet and multi vitamins to keep her from possible re-laps. She loves to give kisses and snuggle next to you and will be a great dog.
February Update:
Daisy is a sweet and loving girl, who loves to snuggle and give kisses. She is a total wiggle butt when she meets new people and plays very well with other dogs. She is 99.9% potty trained and is very good in the house. She loves to go for walks, is great off-leash and at the dog park. She plays fetch with a stick or ball and knows some basic obedience commands. She is crate-trained, although she is now fine in the house alone without being crated. Daisy has a skin condition that currently requires weekly baths and daily medication. Although she does not like bath time too much, she tolerates it fine and becomes submissive. Longer-term, the skin condition should resolve and her prognosis is excellent for a normal, healthy life. She loves treats and to go for car rides. She likes kids, and will do well with them when her skin is better. She weighs about 45 lbs. She is such a beauty and will be a wonderful addition to a home. Call Sally at 410-576-0481 to adopt! Download adoption form on the home page.
