"Swirl"
Swirl is an energetic and loving girl! She is a terrier/greyhound mix, approximately one year old. Swirl loves to curl up in a ball on your lap to take a nap and gives lots of kisses. She is a happy dog who is looking for that special home to make up for the rough road she has had so far in life. Swirl would love to be in a home with someone who will take her for good walks each day and who can provide positive reinforcement in their training technique. She will also do best in a home with no other dogs or cats. To meet Swirl please call Sally at 410-576-0481.

"Trixie"
Trixie looks like a "schnoodle" which is the designer mix between a schnauzer and a poodle. Although some say she is like a soft coated wheaton terrier (you can decide for yourself when you see her!). Trixie's owner gave her up becasue she was an "escape artist" but perhaps she was just curious about the world. Her foster mom is having no trouble keeping in her fenced yard and finds that Trixie is just one of the most well-trained dogs she has met.

Trixie is housebroken, crate-trained, knows many commands (sit, gimme paw, stay, come and gimme kisses) and listens attentively when you talk to her. Trixie takes treats like such a little lady and is so gentle and loving when she sits on your lap.

Trixie adores playing with her foster sister Jaymie (also on this site) and foster brother Frank. Trixie loves to run, play, and wrestle with her playmates. Trixie is great on the leash and rides calmly in the car. Trixie is curious about cats but is okay with them. If you want the perfect dog, then Trixie is for you (she doesn't even shed because of her poodle-like curly coat). How can you pass up the chance to check her out? "Jaymie"

Jaymie is a 25 pound female mixed breed - she has some beagle, perhaps some jack russel or fox terrier and a touch of shepherd to give her long legs :) Jaymie is about 1 year old and is current on all her shots, heartworm negative and already spayed. She is working hard on housetraining.

Jaymie is so gentle, sweet, and loving. She is a bit shy and submissive but really blossoms when petted. Jaymie gives lots of doggy kisses and enjoys playing with other dogs of any size. Jaymie absolutely adores dog toys and rawhide chewies - she will play for hours. She is ok with cats and has done very well with children. Unfortunately her former owner allowed their son to hang Jaymie by the leash, so understandably Jaymie is nervous about leashes but with some gentle coaxing does great. Again she loves children which shows she does not hold a grudge and just wants a loving family to call her own. Please call Sally at 410-576-0481 to adopt this sweet girl!

"Nicodemus"

1˝ year old, 70 lbs., male Rotti/Shep mix in need of a good home! “Nicodemus” is up-to-date on all shots; house and crate trained; walks well on a leash; knows “sit,” “down,” “paw” and other commands. He is good with children, cats and most other dogs. He is currently attending obedience training. He loves to play fetch, chase his tail and is a high energy, fun-loving dog.

Nicodemus was adopted in February and has bonded well to the female head of household, but has failed to bond with the male head of his household, and has exhibited behavioral problems as a result. Nicodemus would be a great dog for a single woman, woman with children, or a two female household, and will be missed! Please contact dfkelly@hotmail.com for more info.

"Shadow"
He had no name, no home and no one to love him. He came to us from the DeKalb County Shelter as a "stray" that had been on the loose for about 2 months. When I picked him up, he was very scared and wasn't sure what was going on. In fact, it took several minutes for him to even come in through the door. He wasn't sure how to act or who to trust. However, after finishing a bowl of food and some water he hasn't left my side. That is how he got the name SHADOW.

Shadow is quite the charmer. He loves and wants lots of attention, but knows when you require him to settle down. (We call that nap time.) He is a fast learner and great on leash. In fact he knows his name, sit and come! Shadow is friendly but it will take a while for him to warm up to strangers and understandably so. He is housebroken and semi-crate trained. With a little help he eventually goes in the crate and lays down. He prefers a room to himself...the crate is just not big enough for what he is used to, but he is acclimating well. Shadow has been in and out of the car many times in the past few days. He is patient and rides nicely, in the crate that is. He prefers that you turn the crate around so that he can see you and get more of the AC!

We visited the vet and he is in good health. He is now UTD on shots and negative on fecal and heartworm tests. Now he is just waiting for his neutering appointment and hoping to gain about 2 more pounds! (You would never hear that from a female.)

Shadow didn't know what to do when a ball came his way on Tuesday but now he is batting it and learning all over how to be a dog again. We are guessing that he is just over a year so he is still a big puppy. He gets excited when he sees his 2 Border Collie sister housemates, Brandi and Taylor. Shadow hasn't realized his strength and dominance yet, so slowly they are all accepting each other. I think that he would do best in his own environment or well with one other female dog.

Shadow would make a nice companion dog. He requires some moderate exercise and lots of attention, but isn't as intense as some Border Collies. He doesn't flinch at sudden or loud noises. He is very curious. He takes treats VERY gently right out of your hand. He sleeps quite a bit and really enjoys the fresh air. His favorite spot to lay is in front of the screen door so he can feel the outdoor breeze. He does enjoy playing a little with another dog, but is happy to be by our sides wherever we are. Most of the days he has been laying around sleeping or watching what we are doing in the next room!

Shadow gets very excited upon greeting people and other dogs. He has been fitted with a Gentle Leader and it has seemed to calm him down in these situations.
