"Ritchie Valens"
|
Ritchie is an all white male pomeranian. He is fully housebroken and good with other dogs and cats. He is six years old and spent his life with a family with four children. They had to give him up due to his nipping when the kids got close to him. He is a bit quirky but is affectionate. Things have to be on his terms, I was told, I actually have not had any trouble with him at all. He will come and sit by you when you are sitting on the couch and he loves any attention you will give him. However, if he is sleeping in his crate, he doesn't like to be bothered. It could be that he feels caged in there and is fearful that he might be hurt.
Ritchie loves to go for rides in the car and getting him out of the car can be a problem. He would always need to have a leash hanging so you could maneuver him. Getting out of a car is more than he can tolerate, he wants to ride into eternity, he loves it so much. We are looking for a home for Ritchie with an older couple or single person that might have had a dog like him before and knows how best to take care of him.
Contact us for an application on Ritchie, he will be a wonderful pet in the right home. He needs a forever home this time. He is neutered, and up to date on shots and has very good teeth. We are offering a senior discount for this particular dog.

"Willie Wonka"
|
Willie is a six year old ShihTzu released to our rescue from a commercial kennel. He has been in a cage all his life. Not only is he suffering from poor socialization, but he is blind. I am not sure what the problem is but he may have cataracts.
Willie is getting friendlier every day that he is here. He is a bit shy but not a biter. We groomed him and he was no trouble at all. He is getting use to being handled, quicker than I thought he would. He is about 7 lbs, very small for a shihtzu. He is a solid gold color.
We are housebreaking Willie to newspaper. We are hoping to find someone to adopt him that might be able to have his eyes checked and if possible, have the sight in one of them restored. He could live another ten years and it would be nice if he could see again. It was no doubt neglect that cost him his vision.
Most important we need to find Willie a home where he will get attention and lots of love. He enjoys being talked to and he is learning his way around here. Willie needs about $200 for a trip to the eye specialist to determine if any of his sight can be restored. If you wish to help him, contact us.
Update, 11/1/05: Willie is coming around fine, he is pretty well papertrained and will allow me to hold him. He is getting around but sticking close to his open crate for security.

"Tootsie"
|
NON SHED Tootsie is a four year old ShihTzu female just released to our rescue from a commercial kennel. She is a black masked gold. She is friendly, not real shy like many of the retired breeder dogs can be. She must have gotten some attention where she was. She is healthy and will be spayed and have a dental before going to her new home.
Shihtzus require regular grooming. As far as personality, you usually cannot find a dog better equipped to live with humans. She is being papertrained. They were bred to be companions only and they love their caretakers. Tootsie's adoption fee is a $250 donation to our rescue medical fund.
