"Vera Lynn"
|
Vera Lynn is a puppymill survivor. She came to our rescue for rehoming. She came out of one of the biggest mills in Wisconsin, 1600 breeding dogs. I have seen it.
Vera is looking for a home of her own now where she can get a lot of attention and love. She has lived in a cage all her life. She is shy of people but will come around. Puppymill dogs are the most exploited in the world. They are raised like chickens in barns. They are not socialized when young and then suffer the rest of their lives from fear. They are bred over and over without proper vet care. Most don't ever make it out of a puppymill, they die before they get a chance to retire. One day they are found dead in the corner of the pen or cage and no one ever knew they were sick.
There are few laws in place that help these dogs. The laws are more concerned with the size of pen than the condition or health of the animal. The condition of their teeth, ears and eyes are always overlooked.
Vera is being house broken to newspaper. We will be taking her outside soon. Vera Lynn may never be a normal pet. She may never be a cuddler. But she may learn to sit at your feet, follow you around the house and sleep in your bedroom like a little guard dog. She will thank you for dinner with some tail wags and she should be able to take walks with you enjoying the out of doors.
If you think you can give Vera a home, along with the respect and love she should have gotten as a puppy, please contact us at bonnwright@aol.com for an application. Her adoption fee is $100 donation to our rescue medical fund.

"My Sharona"
|
Adoption information: My Sharona is a seven year old black and white parti colored Pekingese/Jap Chin cross female. She is a puppy mill survivor. She came out of one of the worst states in the nation as far as number of mills operating. Missouri, or as rescuers refer to it, the state of Misery. She was rescued with about thirty other small dogs.
Sharona is extremely fearful of the human touch. She was never handled or petted enough and now it is going to be a slow process making her into a pet. Sharona came into rescue filthy and matted with terrible ear infections and rotten teeth. Her teeth were so bad that the gums became infected and it spread to the jawbone. Her lower jawbone has an area where it totally disintegrated due to the bad infection. How many years has she been suffering like this? No one noticed at the puppymill, thats for sure. Now we need to see what can be done for her so she can eat properly. She deserves a home and a comfortable life now, free of fear and pain. Until now she has been living in hell. We need to change that and make sure Sharona finds a wonderful home with people that care about her. She needs lots of love, attention and good nutrition.
Update 9/12/05: My Sharona is doing well. Her jaw is healing and she is able to eat. I am hoping we can find someone to adopt both My Sharona and her daughter. They are very attached to each other. Their adoption fee is $300 for both of them.
Update 9/29/05: My Sharona's jaw is all healed and she can eat just fine. She is starting to play with the youngsters here. It has probably been a long time since she has felt good enough to run and play. She will take food out of my hand now.

"Run Around Sue"
|
Run Around Sue is a delightful small size little Japanese Chin girl. We think she is Sharona's daughter, who is also up for adoption after her medical needs are taken care of. So she may also have a little peke in her, not sure. They seem to be bonded to each other and we are hoping to find a place for them together. I am watching them and if it appears they can be separated, we may need to do that so they can both find homes.
Sue is a black and white Chin, quite beautiful. She is a retired breeder from a puppymill in the state of Misery, USA. Sue suffers now from poor socialization, she is terrified of humans, just like her Mom. Hopefully we will get thru to her and she will understand that we are here to help her and no one will ever hurt her again. Sue now needs to be desensitized to the human touch. We don't have a lot of time to work with them here because we have to clean and feed. These two little dolls are lucky to be alive and lucky to be in rescue. We will do our best for them. Hopefully we will find someone that will take them in and work with them. They will come around in time.
Update: 1-27-06: Sue is having back problems now , she can barely walk. She may have injured herself jumping out of a box or off a table. I have her crated and on predisone and am hoping for a good recovery. This is the last thing this little girl needed. If she doesnt get better, we will have to raise the funds for a doggy wheelchair.
Update 2-20-06: Sue has not improved at all, if anything, her paralysis is worse. We need to raise funds for xrays of her back and another vet visit, maybe the animal chiropractor. If you can help Sue, please send funds thru paypal to Limberlostdogs@aol.com. It is hard to believe this happened, she had everything going for her. I am hoping that if the paralysis is permanent that she will be a candidate for a doggie wheelchair.
If you wish to help out with RunAround Sue's ongoing care at limberlost, you can send your donation thru Paypal to Limberlostdogs@aol.com thank you

"Ziggy Stardust"
Ziggy Stardust is a very small Chihuahua girl that just lost her home. She is good with one or two people that she is familiar with here and should get along just fine if she is the only dog. Ziggy doesn't like other dogs or cats. She doesn't like stangers either but will come around with time. She can be a cuddler once she gets to know you. She doesn't like her toenails cut but we got it done.
Ziggy has had two homes already, probably because she was never put in the right one. Ziggy wants a forever home this time. She is a little quirky but at five lbs, who cares. Check out her ears and her beautiful gold eyes. She is right out of Dr Zuess and looks like a keeper to me.
Ziggy's adoption fee is a $250 donation to our rescue medical fund and an approved application. She will be spayed and have a dental if needed before going to her new home. Email us for an application.

He has lived his entire life in a cage and is somewhat fearful of humans. He is not a biter and you can handle him. He is a white color. Just darling. We are housebreaking him to newspaper.
BonJovi will be neutered, have a dental and be up to date on shots before leaving our rescue. Contact bonnwright@aol.com for an application. Bonjovi and Beyonce are bonded and we would like to find a home for them together.

"Ella Bella"
|
I知 Ella Bella. My foster Mom & Dad think I知 a very special girl. I am very sweet, gentle & loving. I can稚 say what has happened to me, but I do show signs that I have been abuse. I get scared easily & I am very timid. I need a loving home without a lot of excitement.
I知 a small girl, only weighing 30-32#, I am heartworm free & on preventative, up to date on shots, wormed & spayed. I am doing great now, and I am ready to go to a new home!
One of my other favorite things is to get my belly rubbed. I get along well with other nice dogs like me. I like to go for walks in quiet places & I have a very sweet temperament + I am highly intelligent. I am housebroken & very well behaved in the house when I have been left loose unsupervised. I知 kinda too afraid to do anything wrong. I love my crate because I feel safe there. It is believed I am a Corgi mixed with Kelpie or Red Heeler, but I do not have a tough dog attitude at all. My ears do stand up. And I am still young at only around 1 1/2 yrs. I like things slow, loving & safe.
If you are interested in a very sweet, gentle, loving dog like me, please contact Nadia at TLTCokey@aol.com or if AOL gives you trouble tlt3c1@yahoo.com or call 636-931-6785. I am located in Festus, MO & my adoption fee is $125
