"Doobie"

Doobie is an extremely small yorkshire terrier boy that came into my rescue last week. He has a weak back leg and it is keeping him from standing and getting around. He was also having hypoglycemic attacks because he couldn't get to his mom to eat, the other puppies kept pushing him out of the way.

Doobie is 6.5 weeks old and weighs ten ounces. Luckily the breeder called me when she did so I could go and get him and bring him home. He is being tube fed puppymilk and pedialyte until he is strong enough to eat on his own.

Limberlost needs your help to do some necessary testing on Doobie to see why he is so small and to see what is wrong with his leg. We will need funds for blood work and x rays. He will not be up for adoption until he is better and we have the answers to his health needs. To help this little squirt Doobie, donate thru paypal by sending to LimberlostDogs@aol.com or contact us for our mailing address. Lets make sure he has a wonderful life. So many puppies with health problems never get a chance at life, they are just discarded without a thought. Thank you.

Update: 5/26/05
Doobie Brother is starting to eat on his own. He has gained almost a hundred grams since he came in two weeks ago. He no longer is bothered with the hypoglycemic attacks. He has food available at all times and he is eating pretty good. I am keeping a close eye on him. Next week he will be having his leg xrayed.

Update: 5/29/05
Doobie now weighs 410 grams. When he came in, he only weighed 188. He continues to improve and on wednesday of this week, June 1st, he will be getting the xrays needed on his lame leg. I will post any information the doctor gives me. Please read all the information here before calling our rescue.

Update 6/3/05
Doobie weighs a whole pound. I put him in a large playpen so he can run and try to exercise his leg. Check out Doobies new picture to see how he has grown

New Photos: 06-03-05

Update: 6/17/05
Doobie is growing like a weed. He now weighs one pound five ounces. He is using his leg and I dont think it will give him any trouble as an adult. He loves to play and will bark at the other dogs. He is eating on his own and begs for my food. Doobie is still living in his pacnplay play pen because he is too small to be on the floor. Doobie is paper towel trained. ; )

Notes: NO PHONE CALLS PLEASE. EMAIL FOR AN APPLICATION ON DOOBIE. We have very specific requirements for his new home. Not many will know how to care for a dog that is so tiny.

"Emily"
Emily is a 2 year old parti colored gold and white pomeranian girl. She weighs in at 6 lbs. You couldn't find a cuter little dog.

Emily was owner surrendered to our rescue. She would enjoy being the only dog. She is quiet, hasn't barked and seems to be doing well on the potty training. She should probably have a dog savvy owner, someone who is not going to let her rule the roost. Emily needs structure in her life and most of all she needs a forever home this time. "Evan"

Evan is a one year old chihuahua male that was owner surrendered to our rescue. He is a little shy of men because of his previous life. He should get over it if treated with patience and kindness. Otherwise an all woman household would be just fine.

Evan is a little guy, only about four lbs. He gets along with children but because of his small size, older children would be best. He is house broken and cratetrained. He will do some submissive urination in the presence of men who speak too loudly to him. A belly band may help him. He likes to sleep under the covers and will make someone a wonderful little companion. He is only a year old.

Evan can be adopted with a $200 donation to our rescue medical fund and an approved application and home visit. Contact bonnwright@aol.com for more info on Evan Dando.

"Zola Taylor"
Zola Taylor is only a year and a half old. She was born at an amish puppymill and when they found out she was a mix, certainly not her fault, they were going to end her life. Someone took her off their hands and kept her for a while but could not give her a permanent home so now she has been turned over to rescue.

Zola is shy from being kept in a cage but does try to get close. I think she will make a wonderful pet once she learns how to trust humans. She will go ten to twelve lbs, needs to put a few lbs on, she is very thin right now.

Culling is a frequent thing not only among puppymillers but among some hard hearted show breeders. Sometimes a puppy will be discarded simply because it is the wrong color. It is a difficult thing to believe but it is true. The dog world holds many horrors. Imagine the breeders disgust when expecting pure bred schnauzers and then getting our unique looking little Zola. Well their loss. She has a wonderful sparkle in her eye and a huge heart full of love waiting for her next owner and her forever home. Rescued pets make the most loyal companions you will ever come across.

"Orphan Annie"
Little Orphan Annie came to us from a commercial kennel. When she got here we noticed she had a great deal of difficulty urinating. The vet says she has bladder stones. She is on medication is scheduled for surgery. Bladder stones are a very serious condition and can cause painful urination and blood in the urine. They can, if not removed cause death. She will also need to be spayed. We are trying to raise the $326 in vet costs for the surgery she will need.

Orphan Annie has a very good temperment for a dog that has lived six years in a cage. She is just plain sweet and should make a wonderful pet for someone.

Annie is a solid black pekingese girl. She is papertrained. In addition to the emergency surgery she will have a dental and be brought up to date on shots before leaving our rescue for her new home. She should be a very healthy dog when she is adopted out. She is not a biter.

If you can help Little Orphan Annie, send your donation to LimberlostDogs@aol.com. If you don't have a paypal account, email me for our address. Thank you.

"Ebony Rose"
Ebony Rose is a two year old pomeranian girl released to our rescue by a commercial kennel. She is a larger size pom about 10 lbs. She is not a real active pom but does a fair amount of playing. She is a tad shy of people but not too bad, I think she will come around quickly. She does like people. She gets along well with other dogs.

Ebony Rose is being papertrained and was in a kennel run so house breaking should be fairly easy. She has a beautiful thick black coat and is a happy little dog. She should make a nice companion for someone.

"Kissie Burbank"
Kissie Burbank is a five year old doxie girl who was injured in a dog fight at the kennel where she lived. She has recovered, except she is unable to use her right front leg. It has been xrayed and the vet said that he can't find anything wrong. It is not broken and he believes it is nerve damage. We hope in time she will gain the use of it again. But we would like to find someone that will accept her the way she is just in case. She gets around well, but can't go on walks. Maybe someday she will be able to.

Kissie is a friendly girl, just a tad shy from living in a cage all her life. She has not met many people but she appears to enjoy us. She gets along with other dogs except for the one that beat her up. It could be that there was not enough food and that might have been why they were fighting. It could be that Kissie was eating it all because she is overweight and could probably stand to lose a few pounds.

If you have room in your home for a little doxie with a bad leg, you won't be sorry. She is a very special girl. Kissie will be spayed and have a dental and be brought up to date on shots before leaving our rescue. Her adoption fee is a $250 donation to our medical fund. Adoption application and home visit is required. Kissie is being papertrained. Contact bonnwright@aol.com with any questions.

Patti follows me all over and spins a little circle when she sees that I notice her. She will make a wonderful pet. Contact us with any more questions you might have on Patti Page. She is being papertrained. She will be spayed, have a dental and be brought up to date on shots before leaving our rescue. Her adoption fee is a $250 donation to our rescue medical fund.
