"Smokey"
Smokey was owner-surrendered along with his partner, Bandit, as the owners
were moving and didn't want to take them along. DOB -- 10-02-00 -- just 3
years of age, reddish fawn in color with white chest and weight at 12
pounds.
Smokey is very friendly and loving, however, very unsure without Bandit
near. I was told he was frightened in the cage at the shelter, however,
here -- he is fine in his cage. Smokey is VERY food aggressive, and must be
fed in his cage, as he likes to guard all bowls -- whether they are his or
not. Because Smokey is so dependent on Bandit - I would like to place the
two together, however, if an understanding home comes along for Smokey - I
will separate them. I was told they were housebroken, but I cannot
guarantee it, as they are in my kennel with a doggie door to an outside
fenced-in run.
Smokey is up to date on all his shots, booster, parvo, 3 yr. rabies, wormed,
heartworm tested negative and on preventative and was neutered.
If Smokey -- and/or Bandit -- sound like a boy you would like to adopt,
please contact foster Mom, Audrey in Mentor, Ohio (east of Cleveland) at
Audrianne@Voyager.net for an Application to Adopt. Home Visit, Adoption Contract, Adoption Donation and References Required.

"Bandit"
Bandit was an owner-surrender along with Smokey, his Peke buddy to an area
shelter as they were moving and could not take the boys with them. I was
told they are lead trained and housebroken. Bandit-- DOB--10-01-01 -- 2
years old -- 17 pounds -- Biskit Fawn (blond) with cream & white markings.
Bandit is a gentle, loving, happy boy with a wonderful personality. Not a
mean bone in his body. He seems to be very intelligent and listens well.
However, Bandit is a climber -- he crawls over my 3ft inside stall walls and
travels the kennel room, visiting the other rescues.
In addition, he crawls my 4ft outside chain link dog runs to visit in the
next run. He is an absolute ESCAPE ARTIST -- he must ALWAYS be on a lead
outside.
Bandit has all his shots, booster, parvo, rabies (3 year) was wormed, is
heartworm negative and on preventative and is neutered. He also received
Bordetella (kennel cough) nasal vaccine.
If Bandit -- and/or Smokey -- sound like a boy you would like to adopt,
please contact foster Mom, Audrey in Mentor, Ohio (east of Cleveland) at
Audrianne@Voyager.net for an Application to Adopt. Home Visit, Adoption Contract, Adoption Donation and References Required.

"Teddy"
|
Hi, I'm Teddy. I was born May 15, 1997. My owner had to turn me over to rescue because our new landlord didn't allow dog's. I am crate trained. I am unsure of my boundaries and will wander off if not in a fenced-in yard. I am leash trained
and love to take walks.
My previous owner had older children that I did fine with. I do not care to be around the other dogs in my foster home. My foster mom needs to stack 2 gates on top of each other because I can jump over one to get to the other dogs. I would like to be the only dog in the home. I am fine with cats.
I will be going to the vet tuesday to get all my shots updated and be nuetered. For adoption fee please contact my foster mom. Deanna Burton (219) 395-8197
or email leonnlori@comcast.net

"Twister"
|
Twister was turned over to us from her owners. They purchased her from an abusive breeder. Her eye had to be removed once they got her. They were trying to save her then turned her over because
they couldn’t afford the cost.
Twister has been spayed and given her shots and has been heartwormed check and a month supply of flea medicine has been applied. She is 9 months old and very playful. However, she's a bit skittish around new people. It took her 2 day’s to adapt to me but she has been a very good pup
ever since.
Every time the door is opened she goes outside to do her business. She gets along with my cat and one of my other dogs but the 2 other peke’s I have here don’t care to play much with her or each
other. She loves kids but can sometimes play rough. She still has puppy teeth and I don’t think she realizes how much those hurt little kids when she is playing and chasing there feet. She just does the play nibbling not the growling and biting to be mean.
Twister can jump one of those child security gates. I tried confining her to the kitchen like I do the other dogs at night and when I am not home, but she manages to jump it at night to get into my bed. She loves being around people. She will lay on the back of the couch like the cat does or the end tables. Or if there is a plate on the kitchen table she will get up there also to see if anyone left her food.
Twister's adoption fee is $200.00. If interested call Deanna Burton at 219-395-8197 or email at leonnlori@attbi.com You will need to go to http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/3843/appforadoption1.htm to fill out an adoption application.

"Midnight"
Midnight is an owner-surrender female Pekingese that was adopted from an Ohio shelter along with a Shih-Tzu. The owners also have a coonhound that Midnight disliked and was attacking her legs -- now the coonhound is attacking Midnight. It was decided that Midnight must go.
Midnight does like other small dogs and ignores cats, however, Midnight is a one person gal. She likes her foster Mom, but will snap at strangers, thus we will place her with adults only, no children, no large dogs, small dogs like herself may be alright. Midnight, as her name implies, is all black with some white on her chest and one foot, about 15 pounds in weight and about 3 years of age. Midnight is not housebroken, but this is being worked on.
On 11-05-02 -- Midnight had all her shots, booster, parvo, rabies, is heart-worm negative and on preventative, had her teeth cleaned, an umbilical hernia repaired and was spayed. Midnight is now ready for her "forever" home.
If you think you can be that 'one special person' for Midnight, please e-mail us for an application to adopt. Adoption contract, home-visit, adoption donation (rescue & vet bill) references required. Contact foster Mom, Debbie in the Cincinnati area at 513-870-9665 or DDuck01@aol.com

outside on a flexi-leash. Must be in a fenced-in yard if not on a leash.

"Sadie"
|
Sable Sadie is a 2 year old, 11 pound, red brindle female Pekingese.
DOB - aprox. 10-22-01 -- another owner surrender, unwanted little girl.
Sadie was in a foster home for 2 days prior to coming to Mentor. Helen said
she was housebroken, got along with her two grandsons - went right to them
and allowed them to pick her up. She likes to play and retrieves whatever
you throw. She rides well in a car (does not jump around). She is a hugger
when you pick her up and if you tell her "up" she stands so it is easier for
you to pick her up. She is a great companion, lays in your lap or on the
floor beside your chair. She is not hyper at all -- HOWEVER -- she likes to
be the ONLY dog as she does not get along with other dogs as she gets
frightened and will snap at another dog if they get too close. Sadie will
not use the doggie door in the kennel so she is using paper to potty. Her
housebreaking will need refreshened.
Sadie has all her shots, booster, parvo, 3 year rabies. was wormed,
heartworm tested negative and is on preventive - and she is scheduled to be
spayed on Nov. 21st. Sadie should be ready for her new home around Dec. 1st.
If this VERY ACTIVE little girl sounds like one you are looking for as an
indoor companion, please contact her foster Mom, Audrey in Mentor, Ohio
(east of Cleveland) Audrianne@Voyager.net for an Application to
Adopt. Home Visit, Adoption Contract, Adoption Donation and References
Required.

"Scruffy-Peanut"
|
Scruffy-Peanut appears to be a Chihuahua-Yorkshire Terrier mix. Born on
09-04-00, he just turned 3 years old, and weighs a mere 4 pounds. Fawn
brindle in color with cream and white markings, Scruffy was owner
surrendered, as they moved to Ohio from SC and the apt. would not allow
dogs. He was purchased in Houston, TX from a breeder as a pure-bred long coat Chi,
however papers were lost when they moved from SC. He was never taken to any
Veterinarian - so we had to vet him from scratch. He is not housebroken as
he was trained to use pee pads. He is not good around other large dogs or
intact males. He loves to bark at cats. He is leash trained and loves to
go for rides in a car. He is not good with children under 12 years of age.
Since coming to Adopt-Aluv Rescue, he has been using paper to potty on and
doing very well with it. He is very quiet and a very sweet boy to have
around. Nothing came with him, no toys, nothing but fleas.
On 10-28-03 all Veterinarian work was completed. He now is up to date on
all his shots, booster, parvo, rabies, wormed, heartworm tested negative and
on preventative and he has been neutered. He will probably need to be wormed for
tapeworms in the future.
If Scruffy Peanut sounds like the one you would like to adopt, cuddle up
with, travel with, or just the two of you hang out around the house, please
contact his foster Mom, Audrey in Mentor, Ohio (east of Cleveland) at
Audrianne@Voyager.net for an Application to Adopt. Home-visit, Adoption
Contract, Adoption Donation, References Required.

"Ginger"
|
Ginger is a darling little Pekingese puppy mill girl, pulled from a
Kentucky kill-shelter. Deemed unadoptable because of her age, guessed to be
around 8-10 years old. She is red and white, and under 12 pounds in weight.
She has been used for breeding extensively, and has a tatoo so common for dogs
in puppy mills.
Ginger came infected with fleas and badly neglected. No
longer wanted for breeding, she was left along a country road to fend for
herself, found by a caring person and turned into the shelter.
She has been fully vetted, all shots, heartworm negative and on
preventative and she is spayed. Ginger is still being treated for the
numerous flea bites and a bad yeast infection in her ears and staph
infection on her face. With proper care, in time this should be completely
healed. Other than these minor problems, Ginger appears to be good shape
for her age and past history of neglect.
Ginger gets along with other dogs, is extremely friendly and lovable, but
since she has lived in a cage outside all her life, producing puppies for
the pet shop trade, she needs a family who will be patient with her while
she learns what living inside a house is all about. AND she is not
housebroken but foster Mom Debbie, is working on all these things.
If Ginger sounds like "the girl of your dreams" please contact
Audrianne@Voyager.net for an Application to Adopt. Adoption Contract, Home
Visit, Adoption Donation (expenses-vet), References Required. For more
information please contact Ginger's foster Mom, Debbie, in Cincinnati,
Ohio -- MICKRD@aol.com
