"Puppies" (See Photos Below)
Their Story
Brown Dog spent her 3 year life hiding from the creatures and trying to survive along the wide path. Her paths crisscrossed Our Right of Way from Liberty Rd to the truck weigh station on what we call I-20E. Some of her burden was lifted by a kindly gentleman who fed her at Tyson Rd. overpass but good water was rare.
She was killed by one of the creatures 4 feet off the edge of the wide path as she drug one of her splattered pups from the middle (she still managed to drag it 15 feet farther-safely under the guard rail). I met & found Brown Dog in March, 2002. They told me as a wild dog she had been living on borrowed time for a year.
It took days to find her 2 surviving 8 week old pups. Brown Dog's den was half way down the steepest bank in miles, in the middle of a guard rail section, in a log fall overgrown by black berry vines. I thought I had them. HA! Brown Dog had provided 3 exits. I fed and watered them daily, but never got to touch them. At 4 months old they were invaded by a bob
cat and began to move eastward. At 6 months they were roaming for days and mother nature's hold increased daily. Fate intervened and they were caught in a live trap set for raccoons.
To me taking on a pet is like having a child. It is not an option of whether or not to keep, it is an obligation to raise them the very best you can. While I did not "allow" the sisters to become pregnant, I took them in "as is". Had hopes of placing them, but know now that Spookie will never be a "pet" and would be totally lost without Sister, so they are mine
forever. I don't want to give their pups up, but I must. I live in a residential neighborhood and my yard just won't support this many dogs.
Spookie's Pups: Ring, Blackie, Blaze, Ruff and Tippy - Spookie is the larger sister-about 50 lb. Looks like black coyote and just as shy. 8 weeks old. All will be, to me, medium to large size dogs. Vet said between 75-100 lb. All look like a mix of Chow and Border Collie except BJ. All are smart - Know their names, use the dog doors (1 kit to their den area & 1 to outside), will come to a sound I make when feeding or taking them outside and usually to "come ____". Have had collar on all and they have seen me working Sandy (my last years wild dog rescue). Think they will bond quickly. They are playful but also understand "NO" and a finger point (I do let them teeth on me some). Loving and like their quiet times alone, but don't get enough of it now. Between dog doors, paper in their den area and a lot of walking in the yard, I'd say they were 70% house broken. I am keeping one myself - BJ is the only one in the litter that looks like a Rottie. Missing cheek marks to look just like my gentle, giant-D'Bear. All have had 2 and need 2 more wormings and have their 1st puppy shots. All have been eating Exceed-a lamb based commercial food and are growing increasingly aware of people food too. Before the Sisters arrival, I cooked chicken and rice for my dogs, but now.....
Sister's Pups: (Sweetness, Lil Sweet, Lil Twins, Spot, R2, Peep Eye) - 7 weeks old. Sister is alpha between the sisters. She was the first in the trap. Spookie went in the next day after Sister was caught without it being baited and refused to come out. Sister is the most outgoing and a very pretty little girl. Probably goes 25 lb wet. Sister's pups are more of a mixture. Go to vet next Tues, but all are in good health. All are smart - know their names, use the dog doors, will come to a sound I make when feeding or taking them outside and usually to "come ____", playful but understand "NO" and a finger point. Loving and like their quiet times alone, but don't get enough of it now. 60% housebroken - had/have harder time getting out the dog doors due to size-doors for Large Dogs. All have had 2 and need 2 more wormings and will have their puppy shots. All have been eating Exceed-a lamb based commercial food.
Below are photos and descriptions of the pups. I am having trouble getting them to pose for individual pictures, so I only have photos of 10 of 12 pups. Adoption agreement and negotiable fee (including spay/neuter refund payable to your vet) and references (including Vet) required.

"Ring"
|
Ring - Not much of a name for a lady, but she is the Ring Leader and has a
band of white almost all the way around her neck and muzzle looks like she
got caught in the milk. Very smart and alert. Venturesome, but-so far-not
destructive.

"Blackie"
|
Blackie - He is the most loving. Goes out of his way to seek me out when I
am alone(that means with just Bear). Will be a very devoted dog.

"Blaze"
|
Blaze - A smaller version of Blackie, but with blaze of white on
chest. Fearless. Does battle with Ruff and BJ constantly. She is the
smallest.

"Ruff"
|
Ruff - She is the largest and the only one who showed no fear when I put her on the sofa the first time (my dogs have certain pieces of furniture they recognize as theirs and some they know not to bother). Very affectionate. Her coat is wavier and longer than the rest. Looks like pure Chow.

"Tippy"
|
Tippy - Chest, nose, toes, and tail tipped in white. Never far behind
Blackie in seeking lovins.

"Sweetness"
|
Sweetness - May sound weird for a guy but it suits him. Loves to be
loved. Setter looks. White with carmel colored markings. Probably 50-65
lb. Med length, soft fur. Square muzzle. Largest of the litter.

"Lil Sweet"
|
Lil Sweet - Mini female version of Sweetness, but terrier, I think. She
needs someone who is active and watchful-right now. Quick to learn, but
just as quick to do the unexpected. One of the small ones but first of her
litter out the dog door. 15-20 lb, I think.

"Lil Twins"
|
Lil Twins - One male, one female (pictured: female). Both come to same name now. They even
sleep together. Going to look like Sister, I think. Smart and very
playful too. Male is all black and female has white on chest. 20-25 lb.

"Spot"
|
Spot - Almost called him Chunky, but took mercy. White with almost oxblood
markings including a large spot in center of forehead. Floppy ears and a
deformed back toe, but neither slow him down. 25-30 lb but not tall. Good
natured.

"R2"
|
R2 - Small black and white female terrier. Looks like dog on cover of book
"Scruffy" and almost like the Rox I lost in 99. Seems like her when she
was young too - shy with me but boundless with the other pups. Walks right
up and kisses Bear. Rox ended up as Top Dog over Bear and Sox and loved to
hunt anything that ran or flew. 15-25 lb

"Peep Eye"
|
Peep Eye - The baby. Same coloring and temperament as Sweetness, but shy
unless others are around. So small she is always peeping from under
something. Has spot covering one eye too boot. I find myself wanting to
carry her because she gets crowded out in the pack. 15-25 lb maybe.
