"Nikki"

|
Nikki is a very sweet girl that was off to a rough start in life. She is approximately 18 months old and had already had a litter of pups. Nikki was an owner surrender to an animal shelter. But even with that rough start she still trusts people and is very loving. She wants to be petted 24/7. When you stop petting her she will jump up for more, but we are working on that.
Nikki is a smaller pyr and only weighs 55 pounds and is very thin, but with lots of TLC and regular feedings she should put on her much needed weight.
Nikki will make a fine addition to the perfect home. She is house trained, gets along with other dogs and kids. If you are interested in give Nikki a new home, please email her foster Mom at dannydaisybuddy@wmconnect.com and she will email you with any questions and how to begin adoption process.
Every dog who leaves the SPIN program is UTD on all vaccinations, HW negative and on preventative, and spayed or neutered.

"Misty"
|
Misty is a two year old full pyr with double dew claws. She is a very big gentle giant. She was an owner surrender that had been mistreated in her former home. Consequently she is sensitive to loud voices.
Misty is eager to please, wants to be loved and not yelled at. She is leash trained and knows sit and shake. She is a very smart girl. With lots of TLC and some training she could easily learn more commands.
Misty is house trained, doesn't get on the furniture, and is happy on her own bed. Misty is looking for her very special forever home. If you are interested in giving Misty a new home please email her foster Mom at dannydaisybuddy@wmconnect.com for information and adoption forms. A homecheck and vet check will be required.
Every dog who leaves the SPIN program is UTD on all vaccinations, HW negative and on preventative, and spayed or neutered.

"Terri"
|
My life has not been the same from the first day I walked into Safe Animal Shelter, of Clay County, Fla. My heart is a little bigger, my spirit a little stronger and the honor I feel by being allowed into the lives of these precious animals along with the other dedicated volunteers that keep the organization afloat,..has been a privilege that grows every day.
As a none-kill organization our mission statement has been "A Home Until They Find a Home." With many of our animal residents spending many years of their lives in our care and protection. But as always there are those cases that prove more of a challenge then others and a few special souls that capture your heart and refuse to let go. Terri is one of those very special doggy friends.
Terri is an Australian Cattle Dog/Pit Bull mix. She was brought to us about a year ago by her owner, who was a member of the U.S. armed forces that had been deployed to Kuwait not far after 911, to help protect our country. Having raised Terri from puppy-hood the two were extremely attached especially since Terri required special time and attention to adapt to a hearing world after loosing much of her ability to hear from what we expect was a virus. Terri was left almost completely deaf.
Working tirelessly together, Terri and her Owner learned to communicate using their own special form of sign language. Promising to find Terri a good home, her owner left her in our care. Unfortunately, and to our HUGE regret, many of our volunteers having such a large volume of animals in our care have had little time to practice communication skills with Terri. The very clear realization that this extremely sweet, very intelligent, gentle dog, needs a new home with a dedicated family who will be in tune with her needs and take the time needed to bring Terri out of the darkness of silence into the light of understanding as soon as humanly possible now refuses to be ignored.
Too many times, visitors to the shelter have looked in on the sad dark eyes and bowed head of the 2-3 year old little girl with her tan and white speckled face and read the words Deaf in her chart... after several looks of dismay and words of sympathy they walk on saying that taking on a dog that couldn't hear them call would be too much... they move on to find a more "suitable" animal companion. Too many times I have looked into her chocolate eyes with her pleading expression and had to say "Next time girl,...Next time it WILL be your turn to go home with a new family to love." In the end the truth remains that despite our loving hearts and best of intentions we have failed this loving, patient, trusting soul. Terri needs a home and this time she is not only trusting us to be her voice but her ears as well.
Terri would make a suitable pet for an older couple or a family with kids of high school or college age. She was adopted out briefly but returned to us a short time later. The family that had adopted her had several young kids who disturbed Terri while she was napping. Startled awake by movement she couldn't hear coming she would snap in self-defense..although never biting anyone but scaring the children in the process. Terri also is not fond of sharing space or humans with other dogs. We believe this in part is due to her inability to hear what's going on around her and a want to protect herself and "her" people from intruders. For this reason a family with older kids and no other pets is recommended.
Several of the volunteers at Safe Animal Shelter, sensing the urgency in Terri's sad soul have dedicated ourselves and 2004 to sending our little girl home FINALLY to a well deserving family, one in which could provide her with a comforting stable and loving life.
We turn to you for any help or direction you may be able to give us. Someone once said "it takes a village to raise a child and courage to then let her go and watch her fly." Terri is "our" baby and she has more then earned wings. Please help us provide Terri with a beautiful life. She has been waiting long enough.
Terri is up to date with routine shots and has been altered. She is also eligible for a gift of the first two months of ShelterCare pet insurance paid for by Petfinder.com

"Casper"
|
Casper is an owner-surrender as due to the husband's serious illness, his owner no longer has the time to care for Casper.
Casper is cream and fawn with a self mask. He is 7 years of age and weighs 17 pounds. He came with badly infected ears which have been treated and are now healed. He does have dry eye and will need cyclosporin drops daily to keep his eyes moist. Years ago, he was stepped on and he has a pin in his hip which gives him no problems. His shots are now up to date, his teeth were cleaned, he
is heart-worm negative and on preventative and he has been neutered.
Casper is very loving, gets along with other dogs, is very sweet natured with his foster Mom and should make a wonderful loving companion for years to come. Casper is in a foster home in Hermitage, PA (near the Ohio border).

All shots have been brought up to date, she is heart-worm negative and on preventative and has been spayed. Lovely black Pearl is now ready for her "forever" home.

"Toby"
Toby was pulled from a Kentucky shelter as he was due to be put down because he is blind (or has very little vision), apparently from untreated Dry Eye Syndrome. He will require daily eye drops.
Toby is 5 years of age, 15 lbs, a red sable with a black mask. He will be fully vetted, all shots, heart-worm check, dental, neuter and micro-chipped before being placed.
Toby is a loving little dog. He is very sweet and would make a wonderful pet. He loves to play and go for walks. Being blind doesn't seem to be a hindrance to Toby at all.
Toby is in the Cincinnati, Ohio area at the present time. If you would like an Application to Adopt -- or if you are interested in being a foster home for Toby, (Foster homes in the Cincinnati, Ohio area are always needed), please send an e-mail to: tmt442@msn.com

"Tina"
|
Tina was 5 years old on March 14th of this year. She was
purchased as a puppy from a back yard breeder near Pittsburgh, Pa. She is
dearly loved by her owner who had to go into an assisted living home. Tina
has been spoiled rotten by her owner, does what she wants to do, and will
not hesitate to bite if she does not want to do what she is told.
Tina is a big girl at 19 pounds, is a lovely red sable with a
black mask -- her shots are up to date, she is heart-worm negative and on
preventative, and spayed. Tina's left eye is infected and is being treated
for it (I have to use gloves to pick her up when I put in the ointment --
as I said, if she doesn't want to do something -- she won't do it -- Yes,
she did bite me, that's why I am now using gloves).
Tina has ALWAYS been an indoor girl -- she has been trained to
potty indoors on a carpet piece. I am now in the process of training her to
use paper -- because of her attitude and eye -- I am not opening the doggie
door of her stall to train her to go outside -- we must take one step at a
time with this girl -- she will be rehabilitated before being ready to be
adopted -- she is young -- and can learn -- and her attitude will be
adjusted.
Tina will only be placed with a family that is used to strong
willed Pekes -- and NO children -- nor other dogs, as Tina wants to be
ALPHA -- over humans.
For more information, Application to Adopt please contact Tina's
foster Mom, Audrey in Mentor, Ohio -- (east of Cleveland) --

References required.
