"Snort"

Snort is a 7 year old, black & tan Pekingese male. Weight unknown -- I will check this out. His senior owners, tearfully, had to give him up because he snapped at their 4 year old grandchild.

Snort is a nice, loving dog 98% of the time, but does bite when he feels threatened. He isn't mean or vicious, just seems to get all worked up once in a while. While he is house broken, he also likes to mark things around the house on occasion. He is fine with other dogs and cats, is healthy, and is quite a nice little lap dog. He lost an eye a year ago from playing with another dog, they weren't fighting -- but it's healed and is okay now.

Snort is completely up to date on all shots, booster, parvo, rabies, is heart-worm negative and on preventative is already neutered, has been bathed, clipped down and frontline applied. Snort needs a "forever home" without any small children.

Snort is in a temporary foster home in Columbus, Ohio with foster Mom, Judy: 614-261-7931. Judy is NOT on line and can only keep him a week or so as her husband has just been released from the hospital and needs her medical attention.

If you think Snort is the right Peke for you, please phone Judy at 614-261-7931 or e-mail Audrey at Audrianne@Voyager.net for an application to adopt.

"Harley"

Harley--Chihuahua-Italian Greyhound mix male -- DOB -- 01-03-03 -- Weight 10 pounds -- Black smooth coat with tan undercoat that shows through.

Harley was listed as a one year old pure-bred Chihuahua in a kill shelter near Cleveland and was in line for "doggie heaven" when another rescue person saw him and knew that I did Chihuahua rescue, took the chance and pulled him for me. He came to me full of fleas and with a collar that said "Harley-Davidson" on it -- that's how he got his name.

I believe Harley is Chihuahua mixed with Italian Greyhound. He is a sweet natured little guy, quiet and loving. He is black with a tan undercoat that shows through. He weighs 10 pounds. He is puppyish and wants to run and play. He will need to be housebroken and house trained. This little guy has a wonderful personality, I believe he would like another small dog -- or older child to play with.

09-16-03 -- Harley went to see Dr. Faulkner at Madison Veterinary Hospital. He was completely checked out, Dr. Faulkner thought he was much younger than what the pound had him listed, saying he was only 9-10 months old. Because he was picked up as a stray, he had the heart worm test and was negative, he is now on monthly preventative pills. He had a fecal check and it too was negative, however, since he came with fleas, we will worm him for tape worm and repeat this in 2-3 weeks. He also had his shots and rabies vaccination. On 10-10-03 Harley is scheduled for his neuter. He should be ready for his new home around 10-20-03.

If Harley sounds like the "boy of your dreams" please contact foster Mom, Audrey in Mentor, Ohio (east of Cleveland) at Audrianne@Voyager.net -- for an Application to Adopt. Home visit, Adoption Contract, Adoption Donation, References Required.

"Buddy"

Buddy is a super 7 year old, 25 pound male Shih-Tzu. DOB--03-10-96 -- Coloring is white with black markings. His Mistress went to live in a Nursing Home and family members took Buddy and his 6 year old partner Chloe, a female Pekingese, to the local pound. Because of their ages, the shelter released them to rescue.

Buddy is up to date on all his shots, booster, parvo, rabies, is heartworm negative and on preventative and he was neutered on October 28th.

Buddy has a wonderful personality, very loving and quiet. He tries so hard to please, and he is completely housebroken. His Mistress let him out in her backyard, he will need to be reconditioned for walks, he is used to being a couch potato. He seems very healthy although he does have slight cataracts but he does seem to see without any problems. He's great with other dogs, ignores our cats and has many years of love and devotion to give to another family.

Does Buddy sound like the right boy for you?? If so, please contact his foster Mom, Audrey in Mentor, Ohio (east of Cleveland) at Audrianne@Voyager.net for an Application to Adopt. Home visit, Adoption Contract, Adoption Donation, References Required.

Chloe has a wonderful, loving personality and will make some senior a perfect companion.

"Peanut"
Peanut is a darling little Toy Fox Terrier female who was on her way into the back room to be "put down" when Karen, another rescue person saw her. Peanut was picked up as a stray on the extreme west side of Cleveland, kept for the required 72 hours and since she was not claimed by her owner was scheduled to be euthanized.

The two days that Karen had Peanut, she found out that she loves to play, is COMPLETELY HOUSEBROKEN, she is very quiet, not a barker and was definitely someone's pet as she will "sit" on command and give you her "paw". Peanut is very gentle and loving, but a little leery of men and she will chew on her pillow and blankets -- just the "puppy" in her. Little terriers are extremely active -- she would like a fenced-in yard to run in and an older child or another dog to play with.

On Sept. 2, 2003 she was given her shots at Madison Veterinary Hospital, is now on heart-worm preventative. Dr. Faulkner said she is between 9-10 months of age -- (DOB--approx-- 11-16-02) and weighs 12 lbs-8 oz. She is scheduled for her rabies vaccination on Sept. 16th -- and her spay on Oct. 10th and should be ready to be adopted after stitches come out on Oct. 25, 2003.

Application to Adopt, Adoption Contract, Home-visit, Adoption Donation, References Required. If Peanut sounds like one you would like to become a member of your family, please contact Peanut's foster Mom, Audrey in Mentor, Ohio (near Cleveland) -- Audrianne@Voyager.net

"Angel"
Darling little Angel is a 9-10 year old, 12 pound, black female Pekingese whose owners took her to a local shelter because they were moving. Can you imagine the fears in this dear little girl -- being "thrown away" after having her so long. Whoever had her, certainly did not love her -- or they could have NEVER parted with her. To me, there are very few exceptions in parting with a pet -- this is not one of them.

Angel is a sweetie who has captivated the hearts of everyone she's met so far, even the cat in her first foster home, who has run from every other dog who has come into the house. Now, given the chance, Angel loves nothing better than to chase them!!!!

Angel is housetrained and very well behaved, not to mention very cuddly. She is just wonderful in every way. We have discovered that Angel has dry eye, this means her eyes do not manufacture tears on their own and she will need twice daily ointment or drops that runs approximately $20.00 a month to keep her eyes healthy. Since she is so mild mannered, it is not a problem to administer the meds. She is well worth the time and additional expense.

Angel has all her shots, booster, parvo, bordatella and rabies. She is spayed, microchipped and will have the heartworm check and teeth cleaned before being adopted.

If Angel is the darling YOU want to keep and love forever, please contact her foster Mom, Debbie in Cincinnati for an Application to Adopt -- MICKRD@aol.com -- Adoption Contract, Home-visit, Adoption Donation, References Required.

"Gracie"

Gracie was born on 01-01-00, thus she was 3 years old this past January. She is a fawn sable with a black mask and 12 pounds in weight. She is up to date on all her shots, booster, parvo, rabies, is heart-worm negative and on preventative, and is spayed.

Gracie is an owner-surrender and they feel she would do best in a home without children. Gracie is an ALPHA Peke and if you have another small dog, she must be watched -- as she does not hesitate to pick a fight - it would be best if she were the only dog. Gracie has been known to do her business in the house and carry it around - so she would need to be house trained all over. Let me add here, that Gracie was completely house broken until they acquired a terrier puppy -- then she forgot everything. I believe this action happened because she wants to be the only dog. If you are that someone who is home all day and without another pet, Gracie could be the right pet for you.

Please contact Gracie's foster Mom, Jill in North Canton, Ohio at jcmcqueen@day-ketterer.com for an Application to Adopt. Adoption Contract, Home Visit, Adoption Donation, References required.

"Tika"

Tika is a darling 8 month old, 7-1/2 pound, female Pekingese puppy, born on 04-07-03, who was reluctantly owner-surrendered because their 7 year old son was allergic to her and was having serious breathing problems. Tika was great with both children, the 7 year old and the 5 year old. She is completely housebroken as long as you leave her out several times a day. Blond, cream and white in color with soft puppy fur.

Tika is up to date on all shots, is spayed and on heartworm preventative. She is full of the devil, she loves to run and play. When she goes for walks, she holds the end of the leash -- so she can "walk herself". She loves her purple "piggy" and will go get it when you ask her to - and she loves to play ball.

If you are interested in adopting this very special little girl, please contact her foster Mom, Audrey in Mentor, Ohio (east of Cleveland) at Audrianne@Voyager.net for an Application to Adopt. Home Visit, Adoption Contract, Adoption Donation, References Required.

"Wesley"

Wesley is a 2-3 year old blonde neutered male. He is heartworm negative and current on all his vaccinations. He weights 62 lbs and has a big beautiful block head and great big feet. He is a medium color golden with beautiful light eyes.

Wesley is very calm and a little timid. He is very sweet and loves to be with people. He underwent extensive testing to learn why he has urinary dripping. Veterinary specialists discovered that his bladder neck is over large. This allows small amounts of urine to drip out. Wesley had surgery in May to correct this problem. The surgery resulted in a significant decrease in urinary dripping. However, Wesley happily wears a diaper when he is inside -- even standing and waiting after coming inside while you put it on. The diapers use disposable pads. At night, we use washable pads in his crate to keep him dry.

Wesley gets along well with other dogs and though he chases cats that run from him, he never tries to hurt them. He has learned to walk on slippery floors but still moves rather cautiously. He is housebroken and crate trained. He loves to snuggle and rub up against you for loving.

Could you be the family for this special boy? You’ll find that Wesley gives much more than he demands. He is with Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue in Raleigh, NC http://www.goldenrescuenc.org/ or 919-676-7144

"Gumbo"

On February 21, I got a call from a Covington woman who took in a young Golden male who was in the custody of authorities who were going to euthanize him. Laura really likes him, but her male timber shepherd does not.

The youngster is intact, well under a year old, and had not been named. He is medium in color. Laura described Gumbo as wild, but Dana who knows Goldens, thought he was calm, considering his age. At intake, Gumbo weighed 52 lbs. which was too thin, but his coat was pretty nice, and his toenails and feet were clipped. His teeth are immaculate (even the vet commented)! He held perfectly still while they gave him his shots.

Gumbo doesn't yet sit or heel on command, but all things considered, walks well on the leash. He marks, but that should change now that he's neutered. Dana says she likes him. Gumbo is a lively boy--a little bit mouthy, as is common for a pup his age. He is already gaining weight while in our care. He is READY for a new home--very much the classic Golden puppy!

Update: Gumbo is growing coat, and looked great yesterday. He was all bathed and brushed out, and was really pretty. Will make a nice family dog.
