"Harriet"
Harriet was rescued by the humane society where she was turned in by owners. They gave her up because of problems housebreaking. The Humane society discovered she had a Urinary tract infection. Due to her being born without either sex organ her urethra is right under her anus. She is free from infection now and is going outside. She doesn’t bark to go outside however. She goes to the door and swats at the blinds to let me know she wants the door opened for her.

Harriet doesn’t care for other dogs in the home as she prefers to be the main dog. I have a parrot and she has tried to attack the parrot's cage so she shouldn’t be in a home with a parrot. She is overweight a little. She has a beautiful thick long coat. She is great with children. She loves to chase them around the yard and play. She has never growled or tried to snap at anyone in my home other then the other dogs in the house. She will follow you to bed and loves to cuddle up with you on the couch. She needs to have her back end cut short due to her urinating.

Harriet is the friendliest people peke I have in my home. Good for any home. I have 4 children between ages 10-16 and baby-sit a 9 month old a 3 yr old and 1½ year old. Haven’t had a problem with any of them around her or had to worry about her being aggressive with them. I do have a big dog in my home part akita and husky that loved to lay on the floor with the baby but since she has been in my home she goes after the bigger dog if he goes near the little kids. She is protective of them. The owners that turned her over purchased her for their child, from what I was told, a toddler.

The only worry I would have is placing her in a home with other dogs that have children in the home. Although she has not accidentally went to growl at the other dog from being by the kid I wouldn’t want to take the chance of her going towards another dog around your children because of fear the other dog might decide to fight with her and your child being too close. My Akita husky was a rescue who is blind and doesn’t fight back with the little pekes I have here. The Pekes get the food dishes first because he won’t attempt it if one is growling and Harriet has been known for backing him in a corner to keep him from going near the kids. I am home all the time so I don’t have to worry about it. But for those that have other dogs Harriet would not be good in the home. But if you just have kids she is fine. She also is ok with a cat. She is up-to-date on all her shots. Harriet is 1½ years old.

Harriet's adoption fee is $200.00. If interested call Deanna Burton at 219-395-8197 or email at leonnlori@attbi.com You will need to go to http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/3843/appforadoption1.htm to fill out an adoption application.

"Cosmo"

Cosmo was pulled from an Indianapolis shelter. They thought he would be difficult to place because he was missing his right eye and his left eye requires daily eye drops to remain healthy. We feel Cosmo is about 3 years of age, is a healthy, happy boy. He has all his shots, booster, parvo, rabies and bordetella. He is heart-worm negative and is neutered.

Cosmo is in a foster home that has a parrot, a cat, a guinea Pig, a turtle, hamsters, two other dogs and children and he does fine with all. His foster Mom does prefer to place him in an adult home or with older children as Cosmo is a bit leery when approached from his right side, and young children would not understand that.

Cosmo is completely housebroken, loves to go on walks with the two other dogs, and his favorite toy is a ball that he loves to carry around and play with -- though, he does loose it from time to time and needs help finding it. Cosmo is not at all destructive, he does not chew on furniture or shoes. He is patiently waiting for a new "forever home" -- could that home be yours??? Cosmo's adoption fee is $200.00.

Please submit an Application to Adopt (obtainable from www.pekingeseclub.org under PCA Rescue & Adoption) and submit to his foster Mom, Deanna in Porter, Indiana -- leonnlori@attbi.com -- or phone her at 219-395-8197. Any additional donation is always welcome to help defray our ever-mounting medical expenses.

"Johnny"

Johnny is a beautiful male from show bloodlines. Champion sired, he was used for breeding until his owner had to go into a nursing home. His age is unknown, but we believe he is between 6-8 years old. He is very healthy and does not act like an old gentleman, so we are thinking he has another good 6-10 years ahead of him. Typical show type Peke, he is not active nor yappy.

Johnny weighs 10-1/2 pounds with a full black mask that has a small white "Budda Kiss" on his forehead, little white on his chin, he is a gorgeous red with white on his neck and chest with a full white collar in additon to white on all four of his legs. He carries a HUGE coat, so either be prepared to do a daily brush out or find a good groomer and keep him cut down in a puppy cut. In full coat, he is gorgeous!!!! But if you keep him in full coat he also will need to be kept in air-conditioning.

On June 19, 2002 Johnny was neutered, teeth cleaned and heart-worm tested negative and will be put on Interceptor. June 20th his shots were brought up to date. Stitches will come out next week, so anytime after June 29th he should be ready for his new home. He is paper trained and he does use a doggie door in my kennel. I believe he will not be hard to completely house break.

Johnny is gentle and loving with everyone. He loves people and gets along with all the other Pekes. He ignores our cat. I do not believe he is leash trained as he is used to being in a fenced-in yard.

"Pedro"

Pedro was turned over to Adopt-Aluv Rescue as he was being mistreated by his 22 year old owner and other family members. The owner's girlfriend saw him being kicked and thrown against a wall and took him home.

Pedro is a darling 4 year old, 8 pound tri-colored (black and tan with white markings), Chihuahua. All shots, booster, parvo rabies are up to date, he was heartworm tested negative, is on preventative (Interceptor) and is neutered.

Pedro needs a SENIOR family to love him, someone to show him not all people are cruel. Pedro is VERY fearful of strangers and will nip before thinking!! I am nearly 70 -- this boy is fine with me, however, not so with younger people. He likes my other Chihuahuas -- but will GUARD his food bowl -- so needs to be fed separately if you have another small dog. He is NOT completely housebroken, but he does go on paper in my kennel.

Application to Adopt, Adoption Contract, Home-Visit, Adoption Donation, Referenced required. For more information, please contact his foster Mom, Audrey in Mentor, Ohio (near Cleveland) --Audrianne@Voyager.net -- I do not transport, nor ship.

"Charlie Chung King"

Charlie Chung King is a very sweet tempered, loving 11 pound red sable male with a full black mask, about 6 years of age. He is Champion sired, and his grandfather was English Imported, American Champion Pascan Picasso - brought over from England by the late Ruthe Painter from Penna.

Charlie's invalid owner died, leaving him and six other show dogs up for grabs, as the care-giver opted to sell them, rather than place them in loving homes per her death bed instructions, I was very lucky to have the money available at the time to get them all off the puppymill market.

When Charlie arrived at Adopt-Aluv Rescue, he was wearing a leather harness that was imbedded in his coat and in his skin. We had to shave it off him along with all of his coat. The harness left open sores which have now healed and his coat is growing back. He will carry a lovely, long, full coat, so be prepared to either keep him cut down -- or you must do a daily brush out. Charlie is NOT housebroken, so that will need to be worked on also.

Charlie is getting vetted on Monday, May 20th -- all shots, booster, parvo, rabies, heart-worm tested and will be put on preventative, his teeth will be cleaned and he will be neutered.

Charlie must go to a very special and loving home -- someone who will make up for the years of neglect he has endured.

Please send name and address to his foster Mom, Audrey for an Application to Adopt -- Audrianne@Voyager.net Adoption Contract, References, Adoption Fee required. For more information, contact Charlie's foster Mom, Audrey in Mentor, Ohio (near Cleveland) at Audrianne@Voyager.net

Oreo was a year old this past May. She is a chocolate and tan with cream markings, smooth coat Chihuahua. She is 8 pounds in weight. She is very loving with me, I was told she tolerates children over 8 -- but is NOT housebroken. She was purchased as a puppy from a back-yard breeder near Youngstown, Ohio, they recently moved and are not permitted dogs in their rented home.

Oreo is scheduled to see the Vet next week for shots and heart-worm test. She is very thin and needs to gain a little before she will be spayed on Jan. 22nd. Oreo should be ready for her new home the first week of February.
