Happy was sent to me over a year ago. When he came here he was so badly abused I could not touch him. After several months he finally learned that my hands do not hit, that my feet won't kick and brooms and mops are to clean the floor -- not to hit him with. He now loves people, loves to be petted and will love in return. He is quite a "talker" -- so if you live alone and want someone to talk to -- Happy is the guy for you. Happy is a silver fawn with a self mask, 14-1/2 pounds. I was told he was 3 years old when he was brought to me -- so I guess that makes him 4 years old. When he came, he was in 6 homes in one months time because he was not housebroken. He carries a nice coat, however, now he has been given a summer cut. He is excellent to groom and bathe. Happy was fully vetted this past November, all shots, heart-worm check negative and is on Interceptor, and was neutered. He uses the doggie door and goes potty outside - however, he is not housebroken and still needs help with this. I believe he would prefer an adult home as he likes things on a calm side. Shelby is very sweet, even-tempered, and affectionate. He wants to be with people all the time, and is happiest when being held or cuddling in someone's lap. I am told that he is great with children, and I can attest that he gets along wonderfully with my own Peke and my cats. In fact, we haven't yet met anyone Shelby doesn't love! Shelby is neutered and up to date on all his shots. He has been bounced around from place to place in the last few weeks, and desperately wants a home to call his own and a person to love.  Casper is cream in color with a fawn overlay and a self-mask. He iw 3-5 years of age. 8 pounds in weight and full of spunk. An absolute charmer, who likes to get underfoot and sit in your lap. He does like other Pekes, but will not hesisate to "grab you in the back of your neck" if you touch his food bowl when he wants it. Casper is not housebroken, but we are working at it. I believe that since he is now neutered, this will become easier to do. Casper has all shots, booster, parvo and rabies, he is heartworm negative and on preventative, his teeth were cleaned and he was neutered on June 10th. My Veterinarian will not do cosmetic surgery, Casper has pinched nostrils and has an elongated soft palate so must stay inside in air-conditioning during hot days. Angel is a red sable, (or a red with a black overlay) long coat, 9-1/2 pounds in weight and about 4-5 years of age. She came with a thousand fleas, has bites and scabs all over her little body, and is absolutely hairless in many areas. Angel is being given medicated baths to help heal her sores and medication to ease the itching. She has had her booster, parvo shot, one worming and was spayed. She still needs the heartworm check and the rabies which will be done on 10/30. With as many fleas as she had she will need to be wormed for tapes at a later date. Angel appears to be paper trained, I will attempt housebreaking in another week when I have space in my kennel. Angel should be ready to be adopted by Nov. 1st. Angel is a very sweet, loving girl and needs someone with a ready lap for her to crawl up on at all times. Is your lap ready for this sweet girl???  Sugar was acquired by one of our grooming customers to be a companion for their male Shih-Tzu. She was born on Jan. 11, 2002, her coloring is gold and white, weighs 10 pounds. Sugar is an owner-surrender because the owner works and cannot housebreak her. Prior to this, Sugar lived in a cage at her breeders her entire life, the new owner refused to cage her - even to housetrain her. With a new home, new carpeting, etc. this was not working out. Sugar is up to date on all her shots, booster, parvo, rabies - is heartworm negative and on preventative. Sugar is scheduled to be spayed on May 23 -- thus, will be available for adoption after June 3rd. She is in my kennel with a doggie door, so we will be working on the housebreaking. This little girl has a wonderful, loving personality. She loves everyone and everything. She is great with other small dogs, all she needs is someone home all day to teach her to potty outside. Riley is an adorable Yorkshire Terrier who will be 4 years old on August 16th. He was owner-surrendered because he did not like their 15 month old twins. Riley is completely up to date on all shots, is heart-worm negative and on preventative, his teeth are great, he is housebroken and he has been neutered. Riley weighs 6-1/2 lbs, a bit underweight, so we will concentrate on putting a pound or so on him before he is adopted out to an ADULT only family.  Tibby arrived on August 22nd. He is a likable guy who was a stray in Thibodaux (TEEB -uh-doe). He is now up-to-date on shots, neutered, and completed with heartworm treatment.  "Riser was first adopted from the Ascension shelter, then returned there because he could not get along well with an aggressive male Jack Russell terrier. He was scheduled to be euthanized on the day Old Gold picked him up. He is a great, playful, cheerful young male about three or four years old. He is as handsome as a movie star. He has a big square head, huge paws, and when he gains about five pounds, he'll be a real looker. He has a dirty blonde coat, and for some reason he was missing fur on his right ear, but it is now growing back.
In my home for a week, after a few 'marking' incidents in the first 48 hours, he was housetrained and had no accidents. He loves to fetch. He is eager to please, alert, intelligent, and not destructive of property. He has a slightly dominant personality which did not cause problems with my mellow, neutered Goldens, but could get him into trouble with the wrong dog (like that Jack Russell). Riser was scheduled to be neutered on May 19. We'll need to check him for heartworms, and treat them, if necessary, before he can be placed."
