"Sparky"
Sparky is a 1 year old, male, neutered, housebroken, all shots current. He was a stray brought into our local shelter and we have fostered him since January. We believe he is Walker/Blue Tick mix. He loves to play ball and will need to be given LOTS of exercise and further training because he is still a pup. He gets along well with children and other dogs.
Sparky likes to
talk to you and be inside with his people. He would like to be your love bug and have a spot on the couch if you'd let him! However, he will need to be kept on leash or in a fenced area when outside as he likes to run and follow his nose. He will dig holes if left alone, but we are working on correcting this behavior. He knows sit, lay down and speak. We are working on "quiet", come and stay.
Sparky is about 22" tall and weighs about 55 lbs. He is an adorable clown who would make a great pet for an active family.

"Bonnie and Jake"

I do rescue here in Texas and my husband & I are building a house in the Turks & Caicos islands. While we were there in June a momma dog that we knew from previous trips brought me her whole litter of 5 puppies. I flew them over to the main island and had them vaccinated and got their international health certificates. The Turks and Caicos SPCA helped by providing soft sided crates and I not only brought those 5 home but also 3 others.
I just got back from traveling to Boston & back yesterday to deliver one of the puppies to a family that had been approved for a Potcake puppy (That is what the island dogs are called. The island people feed the dogs from the dinner pot and usually there is food left in the bottom that forms a cake hence the name Potcake.)
We only have 2 puppies left. Bonnie and Jake are littermates and had a pretty rough start in life. They got into some form of acid and have the scars from it on their noses (Bonnie's is worse and my vet is going to be fixing her nose in 2 weeks when she is spayed).
Bonnie and Jake are about 12 weeks old and would be considered Lab mixes. They will be medium sized (not as big as a lab). They both are very sweet and island dogs are the best little watch dogs going, so very smart.

"Dixie"
Dixie is a sweet, fun loving, active, affectionate one-year-old Pug mix (we are not too sure on what she's mixed with...but there is lots of love and fun in the mix!!). She's spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative (and on preventative) and has been de-wormed. She LOVES to play, is mostly housebroken, is crate-trained and is just an all-around great girl.
Dixie was turned in to the local shelter for allegedly biting someone. We find this really, really hard to believe but, because of the accusation, we will not place her in a home with children. She would be fantastic for an active couple who would like to have a dog that is both snuggly and energetic. She'd be a great walking partner and would make an excellent companion for a medium or larger dog that wants a puppy playmate. She is not too demanding, very eager to please and would excel at obedience training (maybe even agility or fly ball??). She has a silky soft black coat, long graceful legs and is lightening fast. She loves to play fetch and wrestle with the other dogs in her home.
If you think you might be interested in Miss Dixie, please E-MAIL us for an Adoption Application. Questions about Dixie or any other MPR Pug will not be entertained until we have received and reviewed a completed Adoption Application.
Notes: Due to MPR’s policy of mandatory home visits, we will only consider applications from residents in the MD, DC, Northern VA (NOVA) area. We regret that there can be no exceptions.

"Diamond"
Diamond is a 3yo, female Pom who weighs about 12 pounds. Diamond was kept outside or in a basement her whole life so she is not used to being picked up and would not be good with small children who didn't understand this about her.
Diamond loves other dogs, does fine with cats, and is just a sweet adorable lovebug of a dog. She sits on her foster mom's lap whenever possible and loves being petted as well as giving kisses.
Diamond bounces straight into the air when she's asked if she wants to go outside, and she likes to watch out the window at the world going by. If you can give this little girl a good home, contact PomPosse for adoption information, or email pomposse@yahoo.com.

"Muffy"
Poor Muffy lost the only home she has known for the 10 years of her life because she snapped at her family's 2 year old. Of course, Muffy being 10 years old didn't want to be poked at by little fingers!
Anyway Muffy is a terrific dog, she barks to go potty outside, loves to be held on her foster mom's lap for pets and kisses and sleeps in fostermom's bed at night. Muffy is so sweet and gets along great with all the other dogs and even the cat. She would be perfect in any home with older children, a family, a single person or a senior. Two of the pictures show her before her coat was groomed and the other shows her once she had her haircut - she looks like a little teddy bear!

"Oreo"
|
Oreo is an absolutely gorgeous black and white big Chin boy that had a tough start in life. He was held by a breeder to see if he would be a good stud! He "grew up" bigger than desirable for that job, so at 11 months, he is looking for a new permanent home that will understand that he has not had a lot of social interaction.
He is doing well in his foster home but really needs "his own place". He is shy, and really thrives on a consistent routine. The foster parents would like to identify a potential adopter and work with them for a couple of weeks to help with the transition. The potential adopter will have to be willing to work though issues with rewards and positive reinforcement. This dog will be a fabulous pet with just a little consistent effort. The treat of choice for this guy is Cream Cheese! No kids - prefer prior dog experience.
Would you like to show me the good life? If you think that you would like me to come and live with you please contact Heidi at MOPLEEZ@aol.com and she will assist you with questions you might have as well as get you the adoption application that you will need to fill out.
These folks here want me to have a special loving home so you will need to provide personal and vet references as well as have a home visit before I can come and live with you. My adoption donation is $350.00, and personally I think I'm worth every penny. I am currently living in Minnesota. However, they will let me travel out of state so don't be afraid to ask about me. I would love to have a special person to love me. See you soon.....
NOTE: All our adoption donations go towards our ever mounting vet bills. Thank you for your support. We are also, always looking for more foster homes. The more foster homes we have, the more dogs we can help. THANK YOU!
