"Casey"
|
Casey is 7 years old and is an owner surrender. Her owner did not feel that she could properly take care of Casey because Casey is diabetic and blind due to cataracts caused from the diabetes. She is very loving and cuddly, will follow you everywhere, and loves to sleep with her head on the pillow next to yours. She has only been with us for 3 week but knows her way around the yard and house. She goes up the steps quite quickly, but is a little slow coming down, but she gets faster everyday.
Casey gets along well with her 7 foster brothers and sisters, but sometimes get nervous and
irritable when she thinks they are playing too rough. She will bark to let you know that she is unhappy. Casey's diabetes is totally under control and we are currently checking into surgery to have her cataracts removed so that she can see again. She has a lot of life left and so much love to give the right person or couple. The insulin will cost about $8.00 a month plus syringes, which are available for $14.00 for a 100 at our local Kroger. Her sugar can be monitored at home with a glucometer, available for about $45.00 at Wal-Mart.
Casey would do best in a home without children due to her nervousness. The amount of money you will spend on insulin and syringes is well worth the cost for the amount of love and enjoyment you will get from this very precious little girl.

"Sheba"
|
Sheba is 10 years old and rescued from the Louisville Animal Shelter. She came with her companion Groucho (picture and bio to come on Groucho). She is light hearted, happy go lucky and very cheerful. She has a wonderful disposition and gets along well with her Foster Brothers and Sisters.
Sheba is extremely well behaved and has wonderful table manners. Sheba is totally housebroken, loves to sleep on your lap or curl up next to you in bed. She is crate trained, but due to her wonderful manners she has not been in it often as she is free to roam the house. Sheba does have a heart murmur but nothing serious. She has been on antibiotics due to an infection in her
gums, but the infection is now clear and she has had her teeth cleaned.
We would like to place Sheba and Groucho together, but will split if we have too. They will be ready to go in about 3 weeks. They would do best in a home without children, in a relatively quiet environment. They love to go for car rides and walk well on leashes. They would both make excellent travel companions.
Sheba is currently being fostered by Juliana in Louisville, KY. Click here to fill out an application for Sheba.

"Felix Unger"
|
Felix Unger was rescued from a shelter in Tennessee. He is believed to be between 8 and 10 years old, the thin side of 25 lbs., but very healthy. He is blind in his right eye, and does not have much vision in is left eye due to cataracts. He gets around quite well considering this. Felix has learned his way around our house and yard, going up and down two flights of stairs very carefully. He is very gentle, well mannered, and totally housebroken. His favorite thing is to snuggle in the crook of your arm while watching TV.
Felix is crate trained, but sleeps in bed with us at night. When left alone, he does not need to be put in a crate after he learns his way around your house. Felix gets along well with his foster brothers and foster sisters and is even starting to play a little with the puppies. He does have some skin rashes, but those are starting to clear up with the new diet he is on, and
he is also gaining weight. He would do best in a home with no steps and not a lot of furniture moving and someone that wants a snuggler. He has melted our hearts, won't you let him in to melt yours?
UPDATE: I am relatively new to working with dogs that have impaired vision or blindness and Felix has totally amazed me. He is running up and down the steps with his foster brothers and sister, races through the yard, and plays ball. He is very energetic and laid back at the same time. He loves to be brushed almost falls asleep standing on the grooming table. He comes by his name Felix Unger honestly, he is very fastidious, does not like to get his feet wet and will back his bottom over the edge of the driveway to avoid the morning dew. He never gets his beard wet drinking and loves to have it cleaned immediately after eating. He likes my 14 year old nephew, but am unsure about small children and my 90 year old mother-in-law. I believe he
will do well in almost any environment. He is almost perfect in every way. A real gentleman.
